Position Overview
We are seeking an inspiring and engaging Adjunct Faculty member in Creative Writing and Storytelling to teach students pursuing careers in film, media, writing, performance, and related creative disciplines.
The ideal candidate understands storytelling not simply as an academic exercise, but as a living creative practice rooted in observation, emotional truth, character, voice, and human experience.
We are especially interested in instructors who can help students:
- develop authentic creative voices
- transform personal experience into compelling narrative
- strengthen observational and storytelling skills
- explore character, conflict, and emotional stakes
- gain confidence as writers and communicators
- understand how storytelling functions across mediums including film, television, audio, journalism, essays, and digital media
Course Description
COMM-211: Creative Writing and Storytelling 2
Creative Writing and Storytelling 2 continues a focus on various forms of self-expression including personal essays and short narrative pieces to provide the framework for developing skills as a creative writer and storyteller.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate-level Creative Writing and Storytelling courses.
- Lead engaging discussions, workshops, writing exercises, and critique sessions.
- Encourage experimentation, creativity, and personal expression in a supportive environment.
- Provide constructive feedback on student writing and storytelling development.
- Help students understand the relationship between personal experience, narrative structure, character, and audience engagement.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Creative Writing, English, Screenwriting, Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
- College-level teaching experience preferred.
- Strong background in storytelling, creative writing, or narrative arts.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor emerging writers and foster creative confidence.
- Professional experience in writing, publishing, filmmaking, screenwriting, journalism, podcasting, theater, or related creative industries is a strong plus.

Compensation
Competitive adjunct faculty compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
