About the Role

Wishare Media Group is looking for a Commercial Advertising Director with strong experience directing product-focused advertising videos for digital marketing, paid social, and DTC brands.

***This is not a film director role and not a general videographer role. We are looking for someone who understands how to turn product selling points into clear, persuasive, visually strong advertising content.***

Our projects typically involve premium DTC and consumer product categories, including e-mobility, e-bikes, consumer electronics, smart home products, home appliances, fitness equipment, lifestyle products, and other hard goods.

The ideal candidate can lead the full commercial creative process across four key stages:

  • Analyze the product, audience, and selling points
  • Develop the advertising script, creative direction, and storyboard
  • Direct the on-site shoot
  • Follow up with post-production to ensure the final video aligns with the commercial objective

This role requires someone who understands both visual storytelling and advertising performance. The final work needs to look polished, but more importantly, it needs to communicate product value, support conversions, and fit digital advertising platforms such as TikTok, Meta, YouTube, Amazon, and brand websites.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product & Selling Point Analysis

  • Review product information, brand positioning, campaign goals, and target audience.
  • Identify the product’s key selling points, competitive advantages, use cases, and emotional hooks.
  • Translate technical or functional product features into clear, consumer-facing creative angles.
  • Understand how to position high-ticket or high-tech products for the North American market.

2. Script, Storyboard & Creative Direction

  • Develop advertising concepts based on product benefits, audience pain points, and campaign objectives.
  • Create or support the creation of commercial scripts, shot lists, storyboards, visual references, and creative direction.
  • Build clear narratives that show why the product matters, how it works, and why consumers should care.
  • Structure videos with strong hooks, persuasive middle sections, and clear product/value demonstration.

3. On-Site Commercial Shoot Direction

  • Direct product-focused commercial shoots in the Los Angeles area.
  • Lead lifestyle, product demo, action, studio, indoor, or outdoor scenes depending on the project.
  • Direct talent, camera movement, product interaction, lighting, pacing, and visual composition.
  • Ensure the shoot captures all required product details, selling points, hero shots, close-ups, usage scenes, and platform-specific content needs.
  • Communicate clearly with production crew, clients, internal creative team, and marketing team during the shoot.

4. Post-Production Follow-Up

  • Work closely with editors, motion designers, and internal teams during post-production.
  • Review cuts and provide clear feedback on story flow, product clarity, pacing, visual quality, sound, text overlays, color, and commercial impact.
  • Make sure the final video matches the approved concept, script, storyboard, and advertising goal.
  • Support creative iterations for different platforms, ad variations, hooks, lengths, and formats.

Qualifications Strict Requirements

  • Must be based in the Los Angeles / Greater LA area and available for in-person shoots.
  • Must provide a link to previously directed commercial advertising videos.
  • 3+ years of experience directing product commercials, advertising videos, branded content, or DTC performance creatives.
  • Strong understanding of advertising, product positioning, consumer psychology, and digital-first video content.
  • Experience turning product selling points into scripts, shot lists, storyboards, and commercial narratives.
  • Ability to direct on-site shoots and communicate clearly with talent, crew, editors, and internal teams.
  • Strong portfolio in at least one of the following categories:
  • Consumer electronics
  • E-bikes / mobility products
  • Fitness equipment
  • Smart home products
  • Home appliances
  • Automotive or hard goods
  • DTC lifestyle products
  • Product-focused paid ads

Technical & Creative Skills

  • Strong understanding of camera direction, framing, lighting, product detail shots, motion, pacing, and scene structure.
  • Ability to direct both product-focused scenes and lifestyle/action scenes.
  • Knowledge of digital ad formats for TikTok, Meta, YouTube, Amazon, and website landing pages.
  • Familiarity with post-production workflow, including editing, sound design, color, motion graphics, and versioning.
  • Proficiency or working knowledge of tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Frame.io, Google Drive, and project management tools is preferred.

  • Balance brand aesthetics with performance-driven creative thinking.

Compensation

This is a project-based contract role.

Typical project compensation ranges from $1,500 to $3,500 per project, depending on:

  • Location requirements
  • Post-production involvement
  • Timeline and turnaround needs

Final compensation will be confirmed before each project begins.
