Distribution & Marketing Assistant


Overview

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive Assistant with at least 2 years of experience to sit at the center of our fast-paced Film Distribution division. This role is instrumental in scaling our distribution footprint, ensuring seamless communication with filmmakers, and optimizing our marketing and delivery workflows.

You will work directly alongside seasoned media executives and internal teams, owning day-to-day execution while helping elevate our library of independent film and television content. This is a hybrid remote role, with three days per week based in our office.

Core Responsibilities

Asset Management & Marketing Execution

  • Manage and optimize the division’s YouTube channel, handling video uploads, SEO metadata, thumbnails, and regular content updates.
  • Assist in the creation and organization of marketing toolkits, coordinating promotional assets directly with the delivery team.
  • Review and approve initial intern tasks for each film release, ensuring quality control on landing pages, social content, trailers, and one-sheets.

Filmmaker Relations & Account Support

  • Draft and send acquisition agreements
  • Act as a key point of contact for filmmakers, providing helpful email support and tracking regular check-ins.
  • Coordinate and securely distribute watch links and screener assets to clients, platforms, and external partners.
  • Schedule, prepare for, and join filmmaker release strategy meetings to align expectations and deliverables.

Operations & Data Tracking

  • Aggregate and pull performance metrics for filmmakers, tracking platform views, audience engagement, and distribution performance.
  • Submit film assets for coverage, reviews, and platform placement as needed during the release cycle.
  • Maintain impeccable organization across internal Google Drive and Coda systems, updating contact lists, project tracking grids, and pipeline updates.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in film distribution, marketing, agency, or independent media environments.
  • Technical Aptitude: High proficiency with Google Workspace, YouTube Studio, digital marketing platforms, design platforms (canva, adobe), AI tools, and project management tools like Coda or Notion.
  • Detail & Ownership: Exceptional attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple overlapping timelines without dropping the ball.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of maintaining a professional and supportive tone with filmmakers and partners.
  • Mindset: A self-starter with a proactive attitude who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment.

Salary & Benefits

  • Starting Salary: $38,000 - $42,000 per year, with potential for commissions & bonuses to be discussed based on candidate
  • Hybrid remote role based in Santa Monica, CA
