Job Description
Who We Are
Four years ago, Dragonfruit set out to bring together some of the most talented visual storytellers, viral video strategists, and big-name clients, to change the way we create and consume on YouTube.
Since then, we’ve generated over a billion organic views and hundreds of millions of subscribers for creators like MrBeast, Ali Abdaal, Mark Manson, Chris Williamson, Codie Sanchez, and organizations like Y Combinator, e.l.f. Beauty, WHOOP, ClickUp, and the Center for Humane Technology.
We’re not here to chase cheap clicks — we’re here to make YouTube smarter.
Why This Role Matters
Dragonfruit is expanding into more ambitious, format-driven, live-action productions.
The Executive Producer, YouTube will play a critical role in building and scaling our on-set production capabilities — bringing structure, creative ambition, and operational rigor to higher-budget, more complex content.
This role is about elevating what’s possible on YouTube: translating ideas into world-class productions, building the teams and systems required to execute them, and ensuring every shoot delivers against both creative and business outcomes.
The Role
As the Executive Producer, YouTube, you will own the development and execution of Dragonfruit’s live-action and on-set productions.
You’ll operate across three core areas:
- Live-Action Production Leadership
- Resourcing & Vendor Management
- Production System Buildout
You will oversee productions end-to-end — from pre-production planning and staffing through shoot execution and delivery — while partnering closely with Creative Directors and Producers to bring new formats to life in a repeatable fashion.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can both run set and build the machine behind it.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Live-Action Productions End-to-End — oversee pre-production, production, and delivery for high-budget YouTube content
- Translate Creative into Execution — partner with Creative Directors to scope, plan, and execute ambitious formats
- Build & Scale On-Set Capabilities — develop playbooks, workflows, and infrastructure for repeatable production excellence
- Own Resourcing & Hiring for Productions — identify key roles (crew, freelancers, specialists) and build a high-quality talent bench
- Manage Vendor & Partner Relationships — oversee external production partners to ensure quality, speed, and cost efficiency
- Drive Budget & Cost Efficiency — manage episodic budgets with a focus on maximizing output and ROI
- Ensure Production Quality — uphold high standards across cinematography, sound, pacing, and overall execution
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally — align with Producers, Post-Production, and leadership to ensure smooth handoffs and delivery
Skills and Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in live-action, YouTube production as an Executive Producer, Senior Producer, or equivalent
- Deep expertise in on-set production, including crew management, shoot planning, and production logistics
- Proven ability to build and scale production systems, not just execute individual shoots
- Strong network of production talent, vendors, and partners
- Experience hiring and staffing production teams end-to-end
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills; thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Strong understanding of YouTube and digital content formats preferred
- Ability to operate within U.S. time zones
Perks
- 100% Remote Work (with travel for shoots as needed)
- Competitive Healthcare Coverage (Medical, Dental, Vision) (US-based)
- Bonuses for exceptional video performance and production innovation
- Unlimited book reimbursements (we like to read 🙂)
- Paid volunteering day for a cause of your choice
- Work directly with top-tier creators and global brands
- Join a mission-driven company shaping the future of educational media
