Job Description

Narrative Director

About Our Team

We are a strategic execution team dedicated to maximizing the value of our AAA IP and expanding it across diverse formats.

Beyond discovering and executing new game projects, we connect our AAA IP to new experiences across the full spectrum of transmedia, including video, publishing, music, merchandising, and brand collaborations. We are not a conventional business planning or production management organization. We define the direction of IP expansion, identify and connect the right creative partners, and drive multiple projects simultaneously at the franchise level.

Rather than treating each project as a standalone initiative, we aim to systematize how our AAA IP is translated into diverse media and experiences, building a repeatable framework for success both inside and outside of games.

Your Mission

As the Narrative Owner of the IP Bible, you will elevate the depth and resolution of the IP's world and expand its narrative foundation. This is not simply a story writing role. It is about defining and reinforcing the core settings that shape the world, including its history, rules, characters, and conflicts, and ensuring these serve as the narrative standard across all content derived from the IP.

You will continuously deepen the narrative resolution of the IP Bible while reviewing new game titles and transmedia content to maintain alignment with the IP's world. Beyond that, you will plan and execute original narrative content projects grounded in the IP Bible.

Narrative oversight of the IP Bible: Serve as the owner of all IP narrative assets, including world setting, characters, timelines, and core lore

Deepening IP Bible resolution: Fill gaps in existing settings and expand core narrative elements to build greater depth and richness across the IP

Narrative review and decision support for new titles: Review narrative alignment of new game titles and transmedia content against the IP Bible, and provide narrative perspective to support creative decision making

Original narrative content projects: Plan and lead the production of narrative content that extends the IP franchise across diverse content platforms

Narrative alignment with EPD (Franchise Group Head) and Creative Director: Collaborate with leadership to align on narrative direction across the franchise

External partner narrative guidance: Deliver IP narrative guidelines to external developers and partners, and review their deliverables

Requirements

  • Able to travel internationally without restriction
  • 10+ years of experience in narrative production or review for game or media IP
  • Ability to systematically design and document IP world structures, including timelines, character relationships, and core rules
  • Clear standards and sensibility for judging narrative quality and IP alignment
  • Experience managing narrative consistency across multiple concurrent content projects
  • Ability to structure and communicate narrative rationale to senior decision makers and creative leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading narrative direction for a global game IP
  • Multilingual communication skills (English, Mandarin, or other languages)
  • Experience building or operating an IP Bible, World Bible, or Story Bible
  • Experience in transmedia narrative planning or review
  • Experience producing narrative content through collaboration with external writers or studios
  • Experience designing narrative architecture at the franchise or universe level
