Job Description

Social Media Content Creator (Part-Time / Freelance)

New York City | Hybrid | Competitive Compensation

I'm Adam Gidwitz, a New York Times bestselling author of books for young people, an Emmy-nominated producer of an animated Netflix series based on my books, and the host of one of the most popular family and kids' podcasts in the country, Grimm, Grimmer, Grimmest.

In the podcast, I tell scary fairytales live — and we capture the kids' reactions in real time. This season, we've started video recording everything, and the content is genuinely special. Additionally, I travel all around the NY region, and the country, telling stories and talking and laughing with kids.

I would love help sharing my interactions with kids on social media.

I'm looking for a talented, self-driven Social Media Content Creator to help me. This is a part-time freelance role. You'll have access to compelling, highly shareable footage — kids reacting to live scary storytelling — and the creative freedom to turn it into content that finds the audience it deserves.

I am looking for someone ambitious, someone who listens well and learns quickly, someone who wants to use this as a launching pad to bigger and better things. I have worked with many folks in my life, from publicists to personal assistants, and the ambitious ones who listen well and work hard have gone on to huge things--from heading entire publicity departments to being published writers in their own right. I'd love that for you, too.

You need to be a social media native, someone who knows how to scale something up, and how to try again and again until we find success.

**What you'll do:**

• Pull and edit short-form clips from episode recordings

• Create and post content across Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts

• Write hooks and captions that stop the scroll

• Manage a consistent posting schedule

• Track performance and iterate on what works

• Coordinate cross-posting with the podcast's own channels

**What I'm looking for:**

• You think natively in short-form vertical video

• You have a portfolio showing you've grown something: a page, a channel, a creator's account

• You have genuine instincts for family and kids' content

• You can work independently with minimal hand-holding — I'll do a weekly check-in, but I'm trusting you to figure this out and make it grow and grow

• Based in or around New York City so you can join me at live events and we can strategize in person

• Recent grads from digital media or communications programs are strongly encouraged to apply

**Why this role is worth your attention:**

• The raw material here is exceptional. Scary fairytales. Live reactions. Real kids. It's exactly the kind of content short-form platforms were made for — and almost none of it has been posted yet.

• This is an opportunity to be mentored by a bestselling, Emmy-nominated, Webby- Signal- and Kidscreen-award winning creator. I take mentorship very seriously, and if you're serious about succeeding with our project, I will help you get to next big project on your climb upward.
