Job Description
Social Media Content Creator Internship
Room418
Remote, based in Greater Los Angeles
Start Date: May/ June X 4 months
Commitment: Up to 20 hours per week
Unpaid internship; eligible for college credit
Room418 is an early-stage media company focused on horror and true crime. We’re looking for a Social Media Content Intern who is not just familiar with the genre, but genuinely immersed in it, someone who lives in the fandom, follows the conversation, and instinctively understands what horror and true crime audiences respond to.
We are especially looking for someone deeply immersed in horror and true crime fandom, someone who lives in the genre, understands the culture around it, and naturally knows how to create content for fans like themselves.
This role is ideal for a student or emerging creator who wants hands-on experience helping shape a brand from the ground up. We want someone who brings curiosity, taste, and a strong point of view, with an eye for what feels authentic to horror and true crime fans.
What You’ll Do
- Create short-form social content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
- Help develop original content formats, recurring series ideas, and social-first concepts.
- Research horror, true crime, internet mysteries, fandom trends, and cultural moments that can be turned into compelling content.
- Draft captions, hooks, and post copy that reflect Room418’s voice.
- Assist with editing, clipping, formatting, and publishing support.
- Track performance and help refine future content based on what resonates.
- Contribute ideas in a collaborative, fast-moving creative environment.
What We’re Looking For
- Deep passion for horror and true crime fandom.
- Someone who is actively immersed in the genre, not just casually interested in it.
- Strong instincts for social media, short-form video, and internet culture.
- Basic familiarity with editing tools such as CapCut, Premiere, or similar.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work independently.
- Reliability, organization, and excitement to learn by doing.
Preferred Skills
- Experience running a personal social account, fandom page, or creative project.
- Familiarity with analog horror, ARGs, meme culture, disturbing internet lore, or true crime storytelling.
- Interest in media, marketing, entertainment, or content strategy.
- Experience with generative AI content creation tools is a plus, especially for brainstorming, concept development, image generation, motion experiments, or fast creative iteration.
What Success Looks Like
You help Room418 build a recognizable social voice before the company has a large content library. You bring ideas that feel native to horror and true crime fandom, and you know how to make content that feels like it belongs in the feeds of people who already love this world. You help us test formats, find our audience, and create posts that earn attention on their own.
