KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio is Seattle’s NPR news station. We are an independent, nonprofit news organization producing award-winning journalism, podcasts and events in service to the 3.9 million people in our coverage area. We have an outstanding opportunity for a Producer, Seattle Now (Producer 2 – Podcast) to join our team to produce multimedia content for KUOW’s flagship news podcast, Seattle Now. Working with the Editor and News Host, develop ideas, pre-interview guests, provide host with background research, and write host introductions and interview questions. Gather sound and conduct interviews in the field as assigned. Oversee studio recording sessions. Mix audio pieces and prepare podcasts for publishing.
JOB SUCCESS SUMMARY
A successful producer will thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. They will have the ability to identify news stories that will interest local listeners and to execute distinctive content on quick deadlines. This position is team-oriented and requires outstanding communications and collaboration: maintaining positive relationships internally, and supporting fellow producers, editor, and host with production needs is essential.
A successful producer will also model the values of KUOW: earning the trust of our audience through transparency and public service. Valuing diversity by seeking a multitude of perspectives and striving to be inclusive and equitable. Continuing to grow as a journalist by acting in service of the public.
