Creative storyteller, culturally fluent, and entrepreneurial leader – these three attributes are essential for candidates applying to be Unwell’s Director of Brand Marketing. Reporting to the CMO, Unwell is seeking a Los-Angeles-based marketer to own how we present ourselves in the wild. Co-Founded by “Call Her Daddy’s” Alex Cooper and launched in 2023, Unwell is a Gen Z Media and Lifestyle Network featuring a full slate of podcasts, TV & Film, IRL Experiences, Consumer Products, Merchandise, a Charitable Foundation, and Unwell University.


About the Role

In this role, you will define and drive the holistic brand identity of Unwell across all verticals—from media to consumer products. You’ll lead the development and execution of integrated brand strategies that elevate awareness, define culture, and deepen connection with our community. This is a rare opportunity to shape the voice of a female-focused Gen Z brand at the intersection of culture, identity, and entertainment.



Responsibilities


Brand Strategy & Positioning

  • Lead the evolution of Unwell’s brand identity, tone, and emotional truth
  • Craft narrative frameworks that translate across product, content, and community
  • Partner with leadership to shape our long-term creative vision


Team & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Manage 3-5 reports while also being hands-on several high-profile projects
  • Led by example across the company as the senior LA-based marketer
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resources across multiple initiatives


Oversee the end-to-end strategy and execution of marketing initiatives, including:

  • Creative Direction: Partner closely with creative teams to develop breakthrough storytelling that communicates our brand values and differentiators.
  • Partnerships & Collabs: Identify and manage brand partnerships that expand reach and align with our values.
  • Press / Comms / Foundation: Elevate and protect the brand
  • Cross Platform Campaigns: Creative, efficient, effective strategies
  • Email Marketing / Owned Channels: Grow overall reach
  • IRL: Core part of community growth and brand appeal


Qualifications

  • 7-10+ years of brand marketing experience, including in a leadership position in-house for a consumer facing brand
  • Industry experience in Media, Cultural Events, Creator Economy, or IP Launches preferred. Entrepreneurial settings are a major plus.
  • Strong creative thinker with visual identity, storytelling, and content strategy skills
  • Deep knowledge of the social, influencer, and media landscape
  • TikTok obsessed – It’s our language
