Disney Live Entertainment is seeking candidates for a seasonal Vocal Coach to assist with Walt Disney World's performer vocal health program. This role will assist performers during the rehearsal process to learn music and help them identify the best way to use their vocal instrument to achieve optimal performance and maintain the quality of their voices.
The interview process with the team will include a practical session, including simulated situations to determine potential vocal issues, and ability to provide positive and meaningful feedback to a performer.
This position reports to the Entertainment Integration Manager.
This position is seasonal with no guarantee of regular ongoing hours.
What You Will Do
- Perform vocal assessments and determine areas of opportunity for performers
- Structure and facilitate individual lessons and rehearsals
- Guide performers through a range of vocal exercises to help prevent vocal chord damage
- Continually seek to update one's knowledge through events/workshops or other means
- Partner with key collaborators across multiple entertainment teams
- Keep up with music and vocal industry trends
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of professional vocal coaching
- Experience with anatomy and how it relates to vocal production and performance
- Experience analyzing and providing solutions to performance issues, vocal health concerns or music development
- Experience handling one's time and the time spent on issues
Education
- Bachelor's degree is relevant discipline or related experience is required
- Advanced degree in Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Performance or Music is preferred
- Voice Teacher certification is preferred
