Meta is seeking an experienced Sound Design Manager to join our award-winning Creative Audio team of sound designers, design program managers, conversation designers, and creative coders. The role will be embedded within Meta’s Wearables sector and will focus on people-management, cross-functional team building, tactical decision making, strategic thinking, and creative leadership. With Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN’s in the market, you will have an opportunity to continue shaping audio for the entire end-to-end user experience.

Creative Audio Manager, Wearables Responsibilities:

  • Manage a talented team of audio disciplines that consistently deliver on projects and are well-balanced across a range of design skill sets
  • Lead the sonic user experience of Meta Wearables products in partnership with product managers, product designers, engineers, UX researchers and content designers
  • Work with other audio managers & director to establish, encourage, and enforce best practices across the team
  • Set clear expectations and goals while creating a positive work environment based on support and accountability
  • Help design product manager manage resources and headcount against a wide, varied, and fast-evolving portfolio of Wearables features
  • Escalate design blockers to appropriate manager partners
  • Advocate for sound across Meta and in the larger creative community
  • Understand the strengths and opportunities on the current team as it grows, actively participating in the recruitment and hiring process
  • Present audio features at formal Product and Design reviews

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional sound design, including interaction (User Experience) sound, and sound implementation experience, focused on high-quality sonic experiences in real-time interactive products
  • 3+ years experience managing teams of creative and technical audio experts
  • Experience leading audio direction and strategic thinking with a background developing product goals, roadmaps, and making decisions based on user impact
  • Experience representing work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating goals and strategy
  • Knowledge in a wide range of sound design domains including interaction (UX) and immersive sound design for emerging mediums and platforms
  • Understanding of the impact interaction sound design can have on people, brands, and product experiences
  • Demonstrated skill with strategic decision making and tactical prioritization
  • Experience in a quickly evolving environment
  • Experience building and shipping sounds for applications or software across a variety of platforms
  • Understanding of interaction sound design concepts, and why and how to create sounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with studio and location recording, editing, mixing, and mastering
  • Facility with various management techniques (Agile, OKR, JTBD, RACI, etc.)
  • Experience with audio policy
  • Experience with coding or advanced scripting for complex sound implementation
  • Experience identifying ways AI can make workflows more efficient

$137,000/year to $191,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
