Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its experienced corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.

You will be responsible for leadership and oversight of all aspects of a project, which may involve multiple phases/projects within the overall development, including design and project management through course of on-site construction activities to turnover. This role ensures overall project budget, quality, and schedule are met while providing technical expertise and guidance that all design and work in place meets quality requirements of contract documents, applicable codes, site safety and Disney standards. Communicate with the Portfolio Project Management & Development Executive, Portfolio Manager, Design & Delivery Teams, all WDI Studio Executives, contractors, vendors, and governmental agencies. Project Management is the primary responsible Studio for everything that happens on WDI design, delivery, and construction projects, including all program prerequisites and turnover to Operations.

What You Will Do

  • Overall management/monitoring of the Scope, Schedule, and Budgets including ROM, Cash Flows, and the Master Development Schedule

  • Coordinate the Story Development with the Creative Team

  • Manage and support the Design per the Design and Build Agreements

  • Day-to-day management of the 3rd Party Design Consultants

  • Management of Concept Design and Design Reviews

  • Coordination of Disney’s review of Design Packages

  • Overall management of the Construction Admin/QAQC per the Design and Build Agreements

  • Facilitation of Construction Draw/Pay Application review and approvals

  • Facilitation Progress and QA/QC Inspections

  • Facilitation of Construction Submittals and RFIs

  • Overall Management of Turnover to Operator

  • Coordination of Turnover Inspections

  • Coordination of Punch

  • Coordination of commissioning and turnover of documents

  • Manage both internal and external regular meetings including agenda development, meeting notes, action items, and follow up

  • Management of the Development Partner in its project reporting and internal Disney Reporting

  • Owner’s Representative for specific site

  • Authorship of construction strategies and oversight of multiple bid packages

  • Coordinates design progress document management and monitor on-site construction documents

  • Reviews natural disaster preparedness annual protocols and site preparedness

  • Reviews and approves contractor's project schedule

  • Ensures directives/change orders and pay applications are work-flowing in a timely manner to avoid contractor payment delays

  • Responsible for performance management/reviews, performance counseling, and talent development of direct reports

  • Leads and ensures the project delivery systems are in place

  • Manages a more sophisticated and larger team of personnel providing leadership, mentoring, coaching, and guidance

  • Directs priorities for assigned project/s

  • Expect domestic travel

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 10+ years of outside job-related experience or 7-10 years WDI Controls or Project/Construction Management/coordination experience

  • Excellent project management and/or construction technical skills

  • Manages numerous resources on diverse projects

  • Ability to lead multiple project teams

  • Experience with scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and quality control

  • Experience preparing professional presentations and reporting documents

  • Experience hiring outside vendors

  • Ability to understand the needs of the client and to maintain relationships between the owner/operator

  • Ability to comfortably connect with the project team, vendors, consultants and WDI/Disney Experience (DX) partners

  • Understanding of the Project Development process

  • Understanding of scheduling, budgeting, and quality control

  • Organization and task management skills

  • Expanded proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

  • Various Project Management Platforms

  • Applicable technical certifications related to job specific role

Education

A college degree in a WDI Core field (such as Project/Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Engineering, or Architecture) or related professional experience or technical school is required.

The hiring range for this remote position is $141,614 to $189,970 in Florida and $148,666 to $199,430 in California per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
