Job Description
A boutique entertainment law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of post-law school experience in narrative series and/or feature motion picture work.
Qualified applicants should be proficient in at least one of the following areas: production (e.g., above-the-line and below-the-line agreements, PSAs, etc.), development (e.g., rights acquisition agreements, writing services agreements, etc.), financing (e.g., debt and/or equity financing), distribution agreements, sales agency agreements and/or delivery matters. Experience must be post-J.D. and may not include internships or work as a contract administrator. The candidate brings a consistently positive attitude and strong work ethic to the table. They take initiative, follow through on responsibilities, and approach challenges with determination and a collaborative mindset. Their reliability and commitment to excellence make them a standout team member. Must be able to receive and respond to feedback with professionalism and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate:
- Development agreements (e.g., option/purchase, writer, shopping/attachment)
- Production agreements (above-the-line and below-the-line talent and crew)
- Financing and delivery documents
- Advise on and handle:
- Clearance and legal delivery requirements
- Guild compliance (WGA, DGA, SAG-AFTRA)
- Location agreements, vendor contracts, music licenses, and third-party material use
- Collaborate with clients including producers, financiers, distributors, and production companies across a range of budget levels
- Interfacing with talent representatives
Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active member of the California State Bar
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant post-law school experience in entertainment production legal
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with union signatory processes is preferred, but not required
Work Environment:
- Hybrid schedule: 3 days in-office (Los Angeles) and 2 days remote per week

- Salary commensurate with experience, firm policies, and industry standards

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
