We’re looking for a highly skilled Unreal Engine Effects Artist to join our cinematic team on a short-term contract. You’ll be responsible for crafting cinematic, realistic, and story-driven VFX that bring environments, characters, and destruction sequences to life. This is a fast-moving, collaborative role where your technical expertise and artistic eye will directly impact the visual quality of our cinematics.

What You’ll Do

Design and implement high-quality real-time effects (environmental, character, destruction, atmospheric) using Unreal Engine Niagara.
Use Houdini for procedural asset generation and complex simulations, and After Effects (or similar) for previs and composite mockups.
Deliver effects that enhance cinematic storytelling, realism, and dramatic impact.
Collaborate closely with directors, animators, lighting, and environment teams to ensure seamless integration of FX into shots.
Optimize effects for real-time rendering performance without sacrificing quality.
Work in a remote, version-controlled pipeline, iterating quickly based on feedback.

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience creating cinematic-quality VFX in Unreal Engine (Niagara).
Strong understanding of real-time rendering limits and optimization strategies.
Skilled in environmental atmospherics, character interactions, and destruction FX.
Comfortable with Houdini-to-Unreal workflows for procedural effects.
Experience working with version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.).
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work efficiently in a remote setup.
A strong portfolio/demo reel showcasing real-time cinematic VFX.
Access to your own authoring hardware capable of running Unreal Engine 5 and Houdini at production quality.

Nice to Have

Experience with shader authoring or scripting for FX.
Familiarity with virtual production workflows.
Background in film, animation, or visual storytelling.
