What You Will Do
As a Professional Intern with the Disneyland Resort Public Relations Team, you will share exciting Disney news with journalists around the world. In this one-of-a-kind role, you will be immersed in all facets of PR – from media relations, content creation, and events, to the business behind the magic – things like coordinated integrated communications, project management and, of course, showcasing success! Expect more than your usual internship – this is outstanding stuff, and a learning experience like no other!
On Any One Day You Might:
- Support PR efforts that generate awareness of new and existing developments at Disneyland Resort intending to drive visitation.
- Tap into your storytelling ability to help build engaging, timely, and accurate media assets and content (press releases, photo captions, videos, pitches, blog stories, etc.).
- Assist local, national, and international media with product/event awareness to help drive business.
- Write news releases, blog posts, pitches, and event recaps and proactively identify story ideas and media opportunities.
- Collaborate with different lines of businesses – such as park and resort operations, food & beverage, and merchandise – and with other communication teams like Public Affairs, Marketing Strategy, and social media.
- Assist in maintaining the Disneyland Resort news site, DisneylandNews.com.
- Support a wide variety of media visits, familiarization tours, press events, plus video/photo shoots.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage of the Disneyland Resort.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- We are looking for you to have effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Validated understanding of Associated Press writing style.
- We ask you to have previous internship/experience working in Public Relations, Journalism, or Communications.
- Experience reporting/writing/editing with a student and/or professional news outlet or PR agency (broadcast or print-digital) and/or writing press materials.
- Ability to engage with diverse media; provide assets (photos/videos), pitch stories, and host media at special events.
- We look for those who have a close awareness and attention to media conversation, industry landscape, and pop culture trends.
- Flexibility to work various hours, including early mornings and evenings.
- Proficiency in basic computer functions needed to operate in a Mac/MS Office environment.
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Keynote or other presentation software.
- Strong organizational, project management, and multi-tasking skills and sharp attention to detail
- The capacity to implement time constraints and work independently with a flexible and adaptable approach.
- Strong understanding of Disney property and products (with emphasis on Disneyland Resort).
Preferred Qualifications
- Competence in speaking and writing in Spanish.
- Familiarity with Muck Rack (or other media-tracking systems), Monday.com, and Smartsheet.
- Experience in graphic design, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Having an acquaintance with content management systems (i.e. WordPress).
- Familiarity with the creative process for photography and video.
- Experience leading media coverage and crafting summary reports.
Education
- Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or have graduated within the past 6 months from an accredited college/university, earning a degree majoring in Journalism, Media Relations, Public Relations, Mass Communication, or other relevant field.

Pay:
- The pay rate for this internship in California is $21.70 per hour.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess unrestricted work authorization.
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.
- Be compliant with The Disney Look appearance guidelines.
- Available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship.
Additional Information
- The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 through January 2025.
- This internship is located in Anaheim, CA; candidates should be receptive to providing their own transportation and housing for the duration of the internship.
