The Role

Moonbug is seeking an experienced and ambitious lawyer to join an expanding legal department in a very exciting and growing global entertainment business. This is a broad commercial role focusing on brand partnerships and sales deals combined with advising on marketing campaigns for our much loved brands including CoComelon and Blippi. As part of the legal team of over 20 people in London, LA and Singapore, you will enjoy a creative, challenging and collaborative environment where your ideas will be every bit as valued as your legal expertise.

This role is based ON-SITE in our Los Angeles office.


Requirements

  • Reporting to our Legal Director – Music & Commercial and working closely with the rest of the wider Moonbug legal team, you will support our large and growing brand partnership team together with our marketing team in LA.
  • You will be negotiating and drafting brand partnership and sales deals and ensuring that they are in compliance with local and international advertising and sponsorship regulations. These deals commonly include production and licensing/merchandising elements so you will also co-ordinate closely with other members of the Moonbug Legal team.
  • Drafting and amending IO’s and the IAB Standard terms
  • Review and negotiate marketing and advertising related agreements including sponsorship, endorsement, brand ambassador, influencers, prize provider, and promotional agreements.
  • Assisting with competition queries and other marketing related initiatives from conception through execution
  • Advising the marketing teams on requirements or restrictions with regard to social media channels
  • Working on other general commercial contracts in the region
  • Collaborate with legal peers and business colleagues to support traditional and digital media marketing efforts and other brand campaigns
  • Provide advice and subsequent review and approval for marketing output in all forms, including online social marketing, assessing advertising claims substantiation, reviewing and advising on creative content, and draft disclosures and disclaimers, among other duties

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • 5+ years of broad-based experience in a law firm and/or equivalent in-house experience in a media/entertainment, consumer product, or a technology company focused on advertising sales, brand partnerships and supporting marketing teams in the media, internet, or technology industries
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and a valid license to practice law in New York or California.
  • Extensive experience of commercial contract drafting and negotiating
  • Knowledge of YouTube channels and advertising on such channels is desirable
  • Knowledge of UK and EU advertising regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of COPPA, FTC and FCC regulations
  • Some knowledge of data protection laws in the US, UK and EU
  • You enjoy providing timely, pragmatic, and business-focused advice to your business colleagues, across several functions, often in ambiguous situations.
  • Clear, concise communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably on multiple projects under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with the ability to be fluid and respond positively to change, feedback and new ideas
  • Ability to pivot quickly and be resourceful, think practically and be solution-oriented.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational and computer skills.
  • Methodical, meticulous, and with great attention to detail.
  • You will have excellent time management and organizational skills and will be able to, and enjoy, working concurrently on a variety of projects, effectively prioritizing and working under demanding deadlines whilst remaining “cool and calm” and very importantly, showing a good sense of humour. A “can do” attitude is essential.
