Job Description
NewsNation is looking for an executive producer to oversee a weekday dayside news program originating from the network’s Chicago headquarters. You will work in concert with the show's anchor and network leadership on the program. You will also directly oversee the show team including, who produce the daily program. The Executive Producer leads the team of senior producers, line producers, segment producers, booking producers, and associate producers in story selection, identifying guests, building the rundown, and in executing a clean broadcast from the control room. This person must also be decisive when needed to make tough editorial decisions which align with network standards and position us well competitively. This person also provides candid, consistent, and solution-oriented feedback to all members of the staff to elevate the level of production and allow the program to innovate. The Executive Producer will also collaborate with other network leadership on special projects and events. The Executive Producer must also work to incorporate strategies developed by network leadership which improves the news product and increases viewership.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with News Nation Network leadership team on the overall editorial vision for daily news program
- Hire and manage newsroom employees working on the program
- Direct the daily editorial decision making and show production to deliver an informative, insightful, and well-rounded program
- Ensure editorial content meets News Nation standards and practices
- Must be attuned to cross-platform strategies to have brand consistency across broadcast and digital
- Must have a vision and develop strategies to ensure ratings success.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements & Skills:
- Experience producing for a national news program or producing newscasts in a top 10 market
- Experience covering politics and government
- Strong news judgement
- Quick decision maker and creative thinker
- Effective coach and mentor to staff of all experience levels
- Collaborative team player who advocates for their show but find ways to elevate network reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency with ENPS
- Flexibility to work different shifts
Salary Range: $125,000 - $160,000
