Title: Senior Accountant (temporary)
Overview:
We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to support our multi-entity business units under the Azoff Music Company. This role will be a temporary, 4-6 months position covering a leave of absence.
Responsibilities:
• Actively assist in the oversight of general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
• Assist in the management of the month-end close process, including bank reconciliations, review of AP and AR agings, revenue and expense accruals, prepaid expense amortization, intangible and fixed asset amortization and depreciation, and operating expense allocations.
• Own and maintain weekly and monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and quarterly and annual balance sheet roll forwards.
• Prepare and manage the weekly and monthly cash forecasts to determine, with the assistance of senior management, the organization cash needs in a timely manner.
• Assist in preparing deliverables for interim and annual external audits and ensure audit inquiries are promptly responded to and resolved.
• Perform or manage ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
• Continuously analyze the current accounting and reporting process and provide suggestions for process improvements and automation.
• Demonstrate an eagerness and willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities as opportunities become available.
Experience and Qualitative Expectations:
• Approximately 3-5 years GL experience at a medium to large sized, multi-entity organization.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and ability to relate principles to complex transactions.
• Takes initiative and proposes opportunities to streamline and improve processes.
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills and able to prioritize competing deadlines.
• Able to adapt to a fast-paced, growing environment where duties may change and/or increase with short notice due to the needs of the organization and the goals of the department.
• Organization and time management: maintain an organized list of tasks and projects with deadlines and progress.
• Take initiative, be proactive: be aware of areas that could be improved and highlight to management or teammates and, when possible, offer potential solutions. Take each challenge as an opportunity for further growth.
• Flexibility and teamwork: be able to adapt to a fast-paced, growing environment where your duties may change and/or increase with short notice due to the needs of the organization and the goals of the company.
• Accountability and follow through: approach each job responsibility or task assigned with diligence and ownership for its completion and success, with the understanding that some items may require additional research. • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the initiative to proactively communicate to supervisor progress on tasks and problems encountered timely; asking questions when clarity is needed.
• Experience with NetSuite, preferred.
• Entertainment experience a plus, but not required.
• Public accounting experience a plus, but not required.
The compensation range for this role is: $60 - $100 hourly depending upon experience.
Our offices are located in Westwood Village, Los Angeles, CA. Employees work in the office Monday through Thursday and from home on Fridays.
