The Merchandising Intern will have visibility into the product design process for merchandise sold through the Disney Theatrical Group. You will work closely with the Product Development Manager on product design concepts, vendor/ manufacturer relationships and planning of assortments for our theatrical retail locations! They will be encouraged to offer design ideas, assist with organization of projects and shadow brand management relationships. They will also gain knowledge and exposure to the full product cycle of our theatrical consumer product operations and in corporate merchandise meetings contributing to our department strategies and goals for FY24. If selected for this role, you will report to the Manager, Product Development.

What You Will Do

  • Receives product samples from suppliers, collects internal comments and communicates back to suppliers

  • Collects supplier data for product viability sheets and participates in meetings to discuss data and determine product approvals and purchase order next steps

  • Crafts product polls for retail teams on new product selling viability and analysis data for internal review

  • Attends meetings (in person/virtual) related to product development, inventory management, vendor/partner relationship, and freelance projects

  • Participates and collaborates in brainstorming meetings for new product ideas and market trends

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign primarily)

  • Knowledge of design principles and how they relate to product

  • Attention to value, color, and details

  • Time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

  • Proven track record to contribute a positive work environment

  • A collaborator

Education

  • Pursuing undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Product Design (physical product), Toy Design or other related field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Position is located in New York City, NY

Additional Information

  • The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 through August 2024

  • Must be able to work 40 hrs per week, Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm EST onsite

  • Must have housing and reliable transportation to/from work
