Job Title: Production Assistant (PA/ECP), WETA Local Productions
Reports To: Senior Producer & Executive Producer
Status: Full - Time, Non-Exempt, 1 Year
Hourly Rate: $22.00
Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Senior Production Manager, Senior Producers and Associate Producers of WETA Local Series/Projects, this Production Assistant in the WETA Local Productions department will support the production of programs and special projects that focus on the people, places, arts, and culture of the Washington, DC area and in support of WETA’s mission. All producing and content-creation efforts will be in support of developing and delivering the highest quality television, digital, social, interstitial and/or promotional stories This position will report to the PBS News Director of Product, and secondarily to the SRL Director of Operations and Development.

WETA and NewsHour Productions are Washington, DC established media and news organizations. We are a largely local workforce based out of the Campbell Place office in Arlington, VA. WETA and NewsHour Productions value employee flexibility when possible. Most positions based in our Arlington, VA office will be onsite or hybrid, depending upon the role.

Essential Functions
- Participate as needed on video shoots both in the field and in-studio with managing release forms, drafting call sheets, coordinating craft and catering services, and, with direction and permission, collect additional still photography and other digital assets.
- Assist Series and Associate Producers with researching story ideas for segments, stock footage, archival video and images for post production.
- Support Series Producers following production with creating and organizing program deliverables such as creating music cue-sheets, uploading digital assets, transcription files, release forms, and additional duties as assigned.
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Assist Senior Production Manager, as needed, with coordination of production crews on assignments, logistics for field and studio productions, expense reconciliation, post production schedules and other office/administrative duties.
- Ability to support all producers on location in a fast-paced production environment with many moving parts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Flexible and creative disposition.
- Ability to work remotely and self-direct and adjust to shifting assignments as time and needs require.
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of people using diplomacy, tact, and discretion.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, or related field.
- Basic experience in video field production.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
