Editorial Assistant
Work with and learn from a seasoned publishing editor on an award-winning industry magazine!

We are seeking a freelance, part-time Editorial Assistant to support the Editor in managing the editorial content for both our print magazine and digital magazine. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a veteran editor and apply your expertise in the editorial process.

As the Editorial Assistant, you will be an essential part of the team, supporting the Editor in all aspects of content development, production, and management. You’ll help coordinate the editorial workflow, ensuring that deadlines are met and content is produced to the highest standards.

What you'll be doing:

● Keep our editorial machine running smoothly by tracking schedules and ensuring deadlines are consistently met

● Build and maintain relationships with freelance writers, creative studios, PR professionals, and industry contributors to gather elements for articles

● Document the end to end editorial process and workflow for the magazine

● Polish content through copyediting and proofreading, maintaining our high editorial standards and brand voice

● Proofread magazine drafts at various stages of production prior to publication

What we're looking for:

● Proven publication experience with a track record of meeting tight deadlines

● Background in entertainment journalism or magazine writing/editing in related industries

● Technical proficiency with digital publishing platforms, WordPress, and digital production tools

● Sharp organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects without missing a beat

● Interest and/or proficiency in visual effects or technology a definite plus.

● Strong communication abilities and experience cultivating professional relationships with writers, PR contacts, studios and external partners

● A keen eye for detail and solid copyediting/proofreading experience

This freelance opportunity offers flexible scheduling with compensation structured as an independent contractor agreement. We're looking for someone who can jump in immediately and thrive in our collaborative, fast-paced environment.
