Summary:
Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. Its members throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities, conducting voter mobilization and monitoring equal opportunity in the public and private sectors.
Presented annually, the NAACP Image Awards celebrate the outstanding efforts and performances of people of color in television, motion pictures, recording and literature.
Under the supervision of the Vice President of the Hollywood Bureau, the Director of Submissions oversees the Submissions Coordinators who secure entries for the NAACP Image Awards categories of Recording, Television + Streaming, Motion Picture, and Literature. These entries result in a committee ballot, which is used to decide the for the 57th NAACP Image Awards. The Director of Submissions responsibilities are to:
- Manage submissions coordinators and assist, and ensure targeted deliverables required to meet budget revenue projections.
- Track entry of data within database.
- Monitor receivables of submissions to ensure that all data, fees and materials are received.
- Provide daily/weekly updates of submissions status to include fees, screening materials, accounting logs, etc.
- Maintain submissions budget and all financial reporting to include revenue log, accounting and documentation of submission fees.
- Develop campaign to promote submissions to increase submission entries, i.e., print and online industry trades/advertisements.
- Manage the Nominating Committee liaison, who is responsible for communicating with committee members regarding screenings, events, and voting.
- Work with online submissions, company Yangaroo, create submissions online ballot for nominating committee.
- Work with Indee, submissions streaming service to develop viewing portal for committee members.
- Review and ensure accuracy of the online nomination ballot
- Generate data of nominations per artist, network, studio and production companies for nominee announcement.
- Communicate with all necessary entities regarding deadlines and balloting issues.
- Provide final reports to include the following information: total number of submissions, amount of money raised through Submissions fees, budget reconciliation.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following professional qualifications, competencies and personal qualities:
- Prior similar experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Database knowledge of Excel is a must.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
- Have a working knowledge of the television industry
- Basic knowledge of award shows and award show season
- Must be available for the entire (approximately) 32-week period of employment
- Ability to work non-standard hours, as necessary
