Program Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college/university in the United States, pursing an undergraduate, graduate and/or law degree  
  • Graduating between Spring 2024-Fall 2026  
  • Have access to housing and transportation within the designated city (We do not offer housing accommodations)
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H1-B, CTP, OPT, etc.)
  • Commit to 20-40 hours per week (based on individual business area)

How You’ll CREATE:

Financial Operations - US Compliance:

The US Compliance & Controls team is part of the Financial Operations team and focuses on performing audit procedures to test UMG US financial controls.

  • Update Request for Information

  • Update Walkthrough Template

  • Update Organization Charts

  • Update Sample Based Testing Templates

  • Update control language changes in the narrative at the bottom grid

  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks as needed

Finance & Planning:

North America Corporate Finance (FP&A) team consolidates Actuals, Forecasts, and Annual Plan for all UMG-US record labels and central entities. We provide detailed analysis of the P&L and Balance Sheet on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to executive leadership.

  • Looking for an intern to assist in the annual compliance program through testing controls in both North and South America.  This is a new created team with lots of potential to grow.

  • Assisting the NA Corporate Finance Team on month-end close processes. Most of this will come in the form of updating Excel models.

  • Support the NA team on all ad-hoc requests regarding the Income statement, Excel-based trackers, and organization of financial statements and trackers.

Global Security Office - Digital Threat Management (Remote opportunity):

The Digital Threat Management team serves the global, enterprise Universal Music Group.  Our vision is that UMG is poised to succeed, founded upon timely and relevant threat-informed security guidance, enabled security operations, secure software systems, a well-protected workforce, and security insight into technology infrastructure that hosts our customers’ most precious data​.

  • Assess applications for security risks

  • Participate in security control selection and implementation

  • Generate effective security best practices across selected security domains

  • Collaborate to formulate clear and effective guidance regarding security issues

Global ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance):

The team is responsible for collecting and reporting ESG disclosures and developing programs to decarbonize operations and support a healthy, valued, diverse employee culture.

  • Work closely with Global ESG team to support ongoing initiatives to promote positive environmental and social change within the global organization.

  • Participate in Green Team activities and help embed sustainability within the office culture.

  • Forward efforts to support the evolution of UMG’s ESG priorities through a project based on the intern’s skillsets and interests. Examples of projects include:

  • Research and develop a set of strategy recommendations to reduce UMG’s carbon emissions and achieve its science-based target as part of the Music Climate Pact. Strategies should be prioritized based on materiality and feasibility, and can include topics such as renewable energy use, product innovation, and carbon offsets.

  • Peer and industry benchmarking of ESG goals, programs, and KPIs to help UMG evaluate its own positioning among its peer set related to ESG performance.

  • Create educational materials for labels, employees, and other stakeholders around ESG to socialize UMG’s ESG program and performance. For example, prepare a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the Environmental impact of UMG’s buildings or products for a presentation with the CFO community.

  • Research current and emerging ESG mandates, frameworks, and standards to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards and UMG’s leadership position within the industry.

Records Management:

Record Management at UMG oversees the storage and oversight of all paper records generated at UMG. We assist UMG offices in the US with storing and searching records.

  • Our Intern will be assisting in both physical and digital cataloging projects. Duties for physical projects include requesting boxes from storage and recording the contents into our database. Digital cataloging projects include copying existing inventories into our database.

Strategy, Planning & Analytics:

Strategy, planning & analytics is an extension of the executive CPIO PIC. It is the chief operations portion of the PIC executive office. Works closely with the CPIO to align strategy and annual PIC deliverables that align and drive business impact; link budget and resource allotment to priorities. Partners with PIC functional leaders on implementation, timing and coordination of PIC activities.

  • Report structure, systems set-up for report generation, statistical / correlation modeling. Curious – looks beyond raw data for trends, themes to gain insights. Comfortable questioning/recommending alternative solutions. Solution/problem solving oriented.  Comfortable working in a scrappy, creative operation.
