KPNX, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a dynamic and versatile Producer/Multi-Skilled Reporter. This role is ideal for someone interested in producing compelling newscasts for broadcast and streaming, as well as being a passionate storyteller and breaking news reporter. Proficiency in shooting and editing content is essential, as is the ability to write compelling scripts and utilize community engagement strategies.

Responsibilities:
  • Combine live pictures, graphics, compelling video and emotional sound to create an engaging experience for broadcast and streaming audiences
  • Craft stories of all lengths on all platforms for specific audiences.
  • Booth continuous coverage on our live streams for breaking news and community events.
  • Develop and present story ideas during editorial meetings
  • Shoot, produce, and edit engaging stories that include enterprise and general assignments
  • Write clear, compelling scripts supported by thorough research.
  • Adapt content for multiple platforms, including linear broadcasts and streaming services.
  • Conduct community outreach and execute engagement projects.
  • Aggregate content to produce streaming specials
  • Utilize social media and digital tools for research, content discovery, and distribution.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support team objectives
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in journalism, communications or related field
  • On air and line producing experience
  • Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
  • Top-notch communication skills are an absolute must.
  • Solid journalistic judgement and a news philosophy that emphasizes accurate, fair and unique local content, along with community engagement.
  • Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines.
  • Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
  • ENPS and Edius editing system experience preferred.
