About the Role & Team

We are a dynamic fast-paced team supporting Disney Experiences! We are hiring for an Employee Relations Manager (ERM) to support our workplace accommodations team for employees participating on the Walt Disney World College Program in Orlando, FL. We look forward to having you join us! Overall the incumbent will:

  • Provide expertise and services specific to advancing investigations, communicating policies and practices, and advising on workplace matters
  • Improve the employee experience by engaging with leaders and employees, to include Walt Disney World College Program participants, during critical moments in the life cycle of the employment relationship such as workplace accommodations and workplace concerns
  • Assist with implementing company-wide strategies to enable decisions that are consistent with company policies, values & culture
  • Integrate with key partners to drive solutions that promote inclusion, employee engagement, and business results

What You Will Do

  • Promote knowledge and understanding among leaders and employees regarding company policies, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) through employee outreach, coaching, presentations, and training
  • Review medical and religious accommodation requests; conduct timely and thorough interactive conversations with employees to evaluate individual needs, as well as business requirements of the role
  • Conduct timely, objective, and thorough internal investigations
  • Communicate investigation/accommodation request outcomes to employees
  • Maintain detailed and accurate accounts of accommodation interactive conversations and investigations with timely memorialization of the notes and supporting documents into the case management system
  • Assist with guiding College Program participants to available support resources
  • Serve as a primary liaison to the College Program management team and engage with functional partners as needed to include Legal, HR Business Partners, Benefits, Safety & Health, and the Wellness team
  • Collaborate with clients and key partners on performance and organizational change solutions
  • Facilitate training and lead project work as needed

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3-years of solid experience or in a leadership or professional level role
  • Critical thinker, with demonstrated experience translating strategic goals/concepts into action plans and implementing initiatives at an operational level
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, where reactive actions might be necessary
  • Ability to establish and champion collaborative and inclusive workplace-relationships, and spearhead work with a sense of strong compassion and empathy
  • A catalyst for team engagement and cross-functional integration when delivering against the work
  • Ability to analyze data, trends, and insights to identify the root cause of the event, then translate into actionable solutions
  • Demonstrable experience in advising and/or delivering solution recommendations.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Strong presentation skills: ability to confidently make recommendations to HR partners and senior business leaders
  • Ability to handle high priority demands. Strong organization and time management skills. Able to prioritize workload and manage projects against deadlines
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential situations with objectivity
  • Prior experience working in or with an operations environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with students in higher education regarding mental/behavioral health in-job training programs, social worker, or equivalent work experience
  • Background in crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, or similar practices
  • Background in disability management
  • Proven knowledge of federal and state laws / regulations (including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, ADAAA and FMLA)
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking/writing

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, human resources, psychology, sociology, family counseling, mental health, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Master’s or advanced degree in behavioral health, social services, psychology, or family counseling preferred
