The Opportunity:
The Corporate Communications Assoc Manager will support the Corporate Communications team to create, manage and execute external strategic communication campaigns on behalf of Mattel and the global franchise team.
What Your Impact Will Be
Responsibilities will include the development and execution of communications strategic plans including written materials with a focus on communicating the growth of Mattel brands outside the toy aisle. The individual will support executive visibility efforts and will partner closely with key divisions within the organization, including, but not limited to, Mattel Studios, Digital Gaming, Mattel Franchise Management, Location Based Entertainment, Publishing, Music and Consumer Product Partnerships, among others, to develop and execute the communications strategies to promote Mattel as a leading global toy and family entertainment company and owner of one of the most iconic brand portfolios in the world. This individual will also support all major corporate communications initiatives.
This role has accountability for key external media stakeholder relationships, including regular contact with trade, business, entertainment and consumer reporters. The individual will also be responsible for tracking key communications trends, tactics and issues to inform internal and external campaigns. The individual will be responsible for working closely with a cross-functional team of internal partners and should have experience successfully navigating a matrixed organization. There is frequent interaction and collaboration with Mattel’s senior leadership. This role also includes managing external agencies for publicity support for various content initiatives.
Mattel is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, and the successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to regularly prioritize work across multiple projects to successfully meet team and business deliverables. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills and a proven track record of developing external-facing communications programs. We’re looking for someone who is a fantastic storyteller with experience mining for and developing stories that will resonate with fans and media and must have high comfort level developing stories for/liaising with an extremely wide spectrum of media sectors. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and deliver high-level projects on deadline. The individual will be a critical part of the Communications team and will report directly to the Sr. Director of Corporate Communications.

What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Must be a strong writer and storyteller.
- Must be comfortable working in both a team environment and as an individual contributor.
- Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to handle large volumes within tight deadlines and have proven time-management skills while still producing excellent quality of work.
- Must have strong media experience as well as traditional and non-traditional media knowledge.
- Must have strong written and verbal presentation skills and the ability to interface with all levels of management and decision makers.
- Must have experience managing external agencies.
- Ideal candidate has a proven track record of exemplifying leadership qualities of collaboration, innovation and execution.
