Departmental Overview

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 275 staff members and coaches, and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 850 student-athletes who participate in our sports programs annually within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA).

Responsibilities

Independently supervises all functions of the video component by breaking down video of all practices and competitions for coaching staff to analyze in game preparation.
Utilize basketball analytics techniques and software for player and team efficiency data - in practices and games.
Collaborate in the design, implementation and evaluation of developmental goals, as well as the implementation of development plans to fulfill those.
Under the direction of the basketball recruiting coordinator, review recruiting documentation, prepare general correspondence, and assist in all areas of recruiting as allowed by the NCAA according to Bylaw 11.7.1.2.2.
Oversees NCAA film requirements, and ensures that all ACC Conference video exchange requirements are met (includes technical requirements and time deadlines).
Has full accountability for inventory, storage, and maintenance of video sports equipment.
Must maintain record of expenses and budgetary needs, working with staff to maintain team operating budget. In addition, serves as the liaison to the ACC TV Network, and other networks needing team footage. Organizes and archives all video in appropriate storage.
Film all practices and games (home and away). Set up video equipment to allow players and coaches to watch film while at home and on the road.
Assist with gameday preparations and set up.

Required Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of program activity and best practices.
Problem-solving skills; multi-task, work with frequent interruptions, and effective listener.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Must be proficient in the use of basic computer applications.
Excellent videography skills, including editing and cutting footage.
High level of analytical skills, particularly as it relates to Basketball.
Solid organizational skills and ability to accomplish multiple tasks within demanding timeframes.
Must maintain current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the ACC Conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the Berkeley campus of the University of California adheres, and, at all times avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $60,000.

This is a 100% full-time (40 hours per week), 1-year contract position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
This position is exempt and paid monthly.
