How you’ll make an impact:

The Curator III helps to oversee a large and ever-evolving ecosystem of metadata that enables key listener and product experiences at SiriusXM and Pandora. The Metadata Curator is responsible for both proactively creating metadata and tags, as well as monitoring and QAing the flow of automated and semi-automated metadata streams. This role monitors priority queues for tag coverage and quality control, works with a variety of metadata sources and consumers, and helps guide taxonomy development and tagging best practices. They are instrumental in providing human in the loop feedback to NLP models which guide our content understanding, and an important partner in our cross-functional relationships with Data Science, Engineering, Content Programming, and Content Operations.

The Curator III will help enable exceptional end-to-end tag data. It is a role with a unique opportunity to contribute to innovations guiding the next generation of tag infrastructure at SiriusXM. Successful candidates will be passionate about contributing to data solutions and systems that drive both front-end and back-end user experiences.

What you’ll do:

  • Monitor and help guide the development, quality assurance, and maintenance of taxonomies used to classify and understand a variety of SiriusXM and Pandora content types
  • Ensure metadata coverage and accuracy across priority content streams and workflows, including tagging and curation as needed
  • Collaborate with data science partners in the development and training of NLP models
  • Contribute to the creation of documentation and training materials geared toward a variety of audiences
  • Update taxonomies and metadata in preparation for and in response to newsworthy, cultural, and editorial events
  • Triage metadata issues and respond to tagging requests, as needed
  • Provide feedback on metadata tools, processes, and systems, helping to guide improvements and efficiency
  • Contribute to analysis on taxonomy and metadata performance and coverage across key use cases

What you’ll need:

  • Experience with metadata pipelines and metadata at scale
  • Experience with metadata at a media streaming organization
  • Knowledge of taxonomy standards and best-practices for metadata tagging
  • Knowledge of music and talk streaming landscape is preferred
  • Excellent time management skills; the ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Google Sheets and Google Docs
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Bonus qualifications

  • Master’s degree in library science, information management, or information science
  • Experience with SQL or other query languages
  • 3+ years experience in a media streaming ecosystem

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $58,000 - $84,725, and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
