KGKC is the Spanish-language home of the Super Bowl, Olympics, FIFA World Cup, and high-profile programming and news, and we are looking for a dynamic and passionate Meteorologist to join our team and deliver high quality weather content across several Telemundo affiliate stations across the country. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who wants to build and wants consistent opportunities to present weather on air and across digital platforms.

This position requires a person who is driven, accountable, ethical, personable, and works well independently.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce and present daily forecast segments, special stories and alerts for the assigned market of the SagamoreHill station group.
  • As weather anchor, you will report to work -or produce content remotely- as weather emergencies occur.
  • Operate video editing, equipment and systems to produce weather on daily content media on a variety of platforms including television, websites and social media.
  • As a face of the SagamoreHill station group, you will participate in outdoor live reporting, including attendance at community and weather-related events.
  • You will participate in marketing and promotional projects related to weather and overall station promotions of the assigned market.
  • Collaborate with SagamoreHill media partners to cross promote weather platforms, including producing co-branded promotional material.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in meteorology or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in Spanish and English.
  • Strong storytelling skills
  • The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Ability to participate in community and public events as requested by the station
  • Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • High ethical and journalistic standards
  • Able to deal with stress and pressure of time sensitive newscast production
  • Proven experience using forecasting tools including Doppler Radar and Satellite Maps, and weather systems such as Baron, WSI, Weather Central, and Accuweather, etc. Weather system training provided.
  • Video Editing and Production
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $40,000.00 per year
