The approximate date of this internship is January 2026 to June 2026 and will be located in Orlando, FL.
What You Will Do
We seek a dedicated Mechanical Design & Production Intern to support mechanical design and hands-on production, focusing on special effects, animatronics, and show action equipment. The role includes helping with prototype fabrication and assembly of advanced mechanical and electrical systems.
Contribute to mechanical design, design reviews, drawing /documentation, and ensuring designs meet creative standards. (SolidWorks or similar CAD package)
Assist with mechanical fabrication and assembly under supervision.
Support project goals including mock-ups, integrations, and troubleshooting.
Work with Quality Control and Engineering to resolve issues.
Suggest process improvements and show initiative.
Foster teamwork and uphold communication and integrity standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Familiarity with machining, welding, and mechanical assembly.
Hands-on experience through industry, school, or club projects.
Proficient in basic fabrication tools and interpreting measurement instruments.
Able to read and understand technical drawings.
Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Eagerness to take on new challenges and learn from team members.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience using Airtable
Familiar with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Six Sigma (Lean Manufacturing)
Education
Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher attending an accredited college/university earning a degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related program.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
Additional Information
Able to provide reliable transportation to/from work
Must be fully available for the duration of the internship

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate level students.
