Position Overview

Pocket FM is seeking an Associate Director, Fantasy Content, to own the creative, strategic, and business performance of our U.S. fantasy content slate. This is a leadership role responsible for adapting IP, managing writers and creative teams, overseeing production, and planning content at the slate level, all while prioritizing audience impact and business outcomes.

As Associate Director, you will guide fantasy titles from adaptation through launch and optimization, making thoughtful decisions about when to move quickly, when to slow down, when to elevate material, and when to preserve what is already working. You will lead with strong creative judgment, focusing on delivering the best possible experience for Pocket FM’s audience and the strongest results for the platform.

You are a content leader and strategist with the ability to evaluate story, structure, and production from both micro- and macro-level perspectives. You bring a clear creative point of view and a high bar for quality, with experience guiding writers and teams toward strong, scalable storytelling.

You are comfortable managing creative talent, giving actionable feedback, and overseeing adaptations while staying aligned to timelines, budgets, and performance goals. You ground creative decisions in audience insight, data, and long-term value, maintaining objectivity and focus on what best serves the content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the adaptation and creative development of fantasy IP into high-quality, long-form audio series.
  • Provide clear creative direction across titles, guiding story structure, pacing, and long-term arcs.
  • Manage writers and creative teams, setting expectations, timelines, and delivering actionable feedback.
  • Oversee projects end-to-end, from development through launch and post-launch optimization.
  • Manage production workflows, schedules, and budgets in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Own fantasy slate planning, including release strategy and performance goals (e.g., retention, engagement, and completion).
  • Analyze content performance and implement data-driven optimizations across titles.
  • Collaborate with product, growth, marketing, and licensing teams to align content with business objectives.
  • Contribute to long-term slate strategy, including identifying trends, evaluating IP, and refining commissioning frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Experience in content leadership, creative development, or production strategy.
  • Proven ability to manage writers and oversee IP adaptation.
  • Strong creative judgment with a clear point of view on story and structure.
  • Experience managing timelines, budgets, and cross-functional workflows.
  • Data-informed, business-minded approach to content decisions.
  • Background in audio, streaming/OTT, or serialized storytelling is preferred.
  • Experience adapting international or foreign IP for U.S. audiences is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously in fast-paced environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

  • Compensation: $120,000-$135,000
