Purpose Statement: In an effort to create a diverse, inclusive talent pipeline for the music industry, the CMA Internship Program exists to mentor and develop the next generation of industry professionals. In addition, we strive to provide additional help to our internal teams particularly during and around our busiest event times.
Summer 2024 Program:
This opportunity is located in Nashville, TN. In order to gain the most value from their experience, intern work should be completed at the CMA office. Given CMA’s hybrid work schedule, that means that intern work schedules should be built around Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays when the CMA staff is in the office. In addition, intern must be available to work in the office on Wednesdays between 1:00pm and 2:00pm for intern meetings.
Intern Start Date: Wednesday, May 15, 2024; Intern End Date: Thursday, August 1, 2024
Intern must be available to work 15-25 hours/week
Intern must be available to work every day of CMA Fest 2024: June 6 - 9
Pay rate $10/hour
Students are not required to receive academic credit for the internship. However, they are required to be pursuing any type of secondary or higher education, including an associate’s degree, a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree, a doctorate degree, a law degree, any type of certificate, etc. Students at colleges, universities, community colleges, junior colleges, trade schools, and vocational schools are all eligible.
In an effort to provide this experience to as many students as possible, there is a one semester limit. Interns may not return for multiple semesters.
Summer 2024 - Creative Intern
CMA Creative is looking to fill 2 part-time internship positions for the Spring 2024. Functioning as an arm of the larger CMA Marketing Department, the Creative team is responsible for coordinating and/or executing all graphic design, video and photography projects in support of CMA TV properties and initiatives. The summer is an exciting time to be a Creative intern as your work will involve helping out on CMA Fest, Triple Play and Touring Awards, Country Music Hall of Fame announcements, CMA Foundation initiatives and other exciting projects. Interns are matched with tasks that suit their skills and interests, regularly working on video editing, photography (taking and editing photos) and design projects in addition to serving as production assistants on video/photo shoots and other events. The CMA Creative Team is small but mighty, so interns are guaranteed a lot of hands-on experience. Important skills to possess are the ability to work independently, excellent attention to detail, having a professional demeanor, as well as the ability to keep calm under pressure and handle simultaneous time sensitive tasks. This internship is ideal for students interested in careers in creative media and production and may introduce them to career paths they did not previously know about, as well as getting them real world experience with creative software applications and video equipment.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Creative Intern will be responsible for assisting the creative department with video and production, photography and DAM, office assistance, digital design and asset tracking
JOB DUTIES:
Video & Production
Servicing external archival footage requests (video clipping with Premiere Pro)
Equipment room management & upkeep
Production assistance on in-house video shoots & marketing content shoots backstage at TV show tapings
Video clipping for marketing liners, performances, etc. for TV show properties (Christmas & Awards) (video clipping with Premiere Pro)
Photography & DAM
Still photography
Photo editing and metadata (Photo Mechanic, Photoshop)
Webdam maintenance - verifying photo credit, description, keywords, file names, tagging people in archival photos
Archival print & slide scanning
Assisting with portrait shoots at live events
Office Assistance
Maintaining/tracking merch inventory in CMA office
Design & Asset Tracking
Minor design file updates
CMA Fest stage screen templates, social content creation from templates
Proofing assets/QA (especially around Awards – social assets, program book, etc)
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required
Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro
Experience with Adobe Photoshop
Experience working on a Mac
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently
Preferred
Experience with Adobe After Effects
Experience with Adobe Lightroom
Experience with Adobe Illustrator (smart objects)
Experience with Photo Mechanic (and/or working with metadata, DAM systems, etc)
Still photography (DSLR or mirrorless)
Video production experience
