Role: Director of Finance and Business Operations

We're looking for a highly versatile "swiss army knife" in the role of Director of Finance & Business Operations. This individual should thrive in ambiguity and seamlessly shift between keeping the trains running and hunting new opportunities. This isn't a traditional corporate role—it's for someone who is hungry to learn, grow and build the operational backbone of a growing entertainment company while actively driving revenue and partnership growth.

You'll split your time between ensuring our operational foundations, which are in its infancy, are solid (finance, accounting, HR, vendor management) and together with the leadership team, assist in pursuing strategic business development opportunities (partnerships, licensing deals, distribution agreements, new revenue streams).

One day you might be reconciling accounts and managing payroll, the next you're structuring a co-production deal or pursuing a new licensing partnership.

Operations & Finance (50%)

  • Manage vendors on day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, tax and financial reporting
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management and reporting to relevant stakeholders
  • Handle vendor relationships, contracts, and payment workflows
  • Build and refine HR processes including onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance
  • Establish operational systems and processes as we scale
  • Manage insurance, legal compliance, and corporate housekeeping

Business Development & Strategic Support (50%)

  • Lead outreach to potential partners, distributors, and collaborators
  • Structure deals and negotiate terms for content partnerships, licensing agreements, and revenue-sharing arrangements
  • Build and maintain relationships with talent, agencies, production partners, and distributors
  • Develop pitch materials and business cases for new opportunities
  • Track and manage the business development pipeline
  • Provide strategic analysis and recommendations on market opportunities
  • Support leadership in evaluating new business models and revenue streams
  • Translate business objectives into actionable operational plans

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 7+ years of combined experience in financial planning and/or business development (entertainment, media, or startup environments strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee a full accounting cycle and financial planning process
  • Track record of successfully initiating and closing business deals or partnerships

Preferred

  • Experience in animation, film, TV, or children's entertainment
  • Familiarity with entertainment industry deal structures (licensing, distribution, talent agreements)
  • Background in early-stage or high-growth companies
