What You’ll Do

Foreign levies is a department that handles fees collected by foreign countries in part to compensate rights holders for the effects of copying, rental and retransmission of their films and television programs.


The Foreign Levies Assistant will be assisting the Foreign Levies Department with allocating and distributing foreign levies to DGA members and non-members. Ideal candidates should display genuine interest in a career in entertainment.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Data Entry - Use existing databases and online public resources to process incoming data, correctly identifying motion picture projects and directors. 
  • Research, Locate & Register Independent Filmmakers - Use databases and online public resources to locate, contact, and register independent filmmakers for payment.
  • Disburse Payments - Produce and prepare a bulk mailing of payments bi-annually. 
  • Serve the Membership / Independent Filmmakers as Needed - Correspond with directors to answer their questions and resolve their issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


What You’ll Need

  • Good mathematical skills.
  • Internet literate including use of social media and online resources
  • Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Experience working in research.
  • Experience working with databases
  • Genuine interest in film and entertainment is preferable
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written to interact with staff, members and external contacts.
  • Excellent time management skills.
