Job Description

Head of Business Partnerships

Being Jewish with Jonah Platt Podcast  ·  Contract (1099)  ·  Remote

————————————————————

About the Role

Being Jewish with Jonah Platt is looking for a strategic, detail-oriented Head of Business Partnerships to own and grow the commercial engine of one of the most listened-to and watched Jewish-focused podcasts in the world, with an audience spanning audio, digital, and television. This is a high-ownership contract role sitting at the intersection of media, sales, and operations — ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment and knows how to turn data and relationships into revenue.

This is an independent contractor position (1099) structured as a monthly retainer. You will be responsible for selling advertising, securing sponsorships, procuring brand partnerships, and creatively monetizing the show and Jonah’s personal brand in as many ways as possible — working closely with and reporting directly to the host and executive team. Lots of room and potential for growth.

What You’ll Do

Advertising Sales & Partnerships

  • Prospect, pitch, and close advertising deals and brand partnerships across general and Jewish-niche and market verticals
  • Maintain and update advertising pitch materials (pitch deck, rate sheet, one-sheet, insertion order template) in Canva
  • Build and manage databases of prospective advertisers across both Jewish-niche and general market verticals
  • Conduct cold outreach to brand decision-makers via email and occasionally phone
  • Host Zoom calls with potential clients: present the show’s format, reach, and demographics; walk through ad opportunities and pricing; craft custom proposals
  • Track all ad inquiries and lead status in the advertising pipeline tracker

Ad Buy Execution & Client Management

  • Schedule new ad buys in coordination with production; update the Ad & Promo Calendar
  • Onboard new advertising clients: collect assets, brief on deadlines, write or edit ad scripts in the host’s voice
  • Prepare and execute Insertion Orders; track all buys in the Ad Invoice Tracker
  • Liaise with the production team to ensure smooth integration of ads into the episode schedule

Contracts & Legal Liaison

  • Review vendor and partner contracts (hosting platforms, production companies, sponsors, fiscal sponsors, etc.)
  • Prepare summaries and questions for the executive team and outside legal counsel; relay feedback between parties

Merch & E-Commerce Operations

  • Manage relationships with merch vendors and fulfillment partners; evaluate sample quality and pricing
  • Oversee Shopify storefront setup and ongoing operations, including policy drafting and platform integrations
  • Coordinate with graphic designers on merch designs; manage print-on-demand SKUs and inventory

Subscriber Monetization

  • Responsible for the optimization and growth of subscriber community (Kehillah) - subscriber counts, revenue, and scale.
  • Evaluate and support transition to new monetization platforms (e.g., Patreon) as needed

What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in media, podcast, and/or entertainment advertising sales, brand partnerships, and business development
  • Experience with podcast advertising ecosystems (host-read ads, insertion orders, CPM/CPP pricing, various hosting platforms)
  • Comfortable and nimble across multiple platforms - television, audio, digital, social media
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, motivated, and self-directed; able to manage multiple workstreams without close supervision
  • Proficiency with tools such as Canva, Google Suite (Sheets, Drive, Analytics), Shopify, and CRM/tracking spreadsheets
  • Comfortable working independently as a 1099 contractor; able to manage your own schedule and deliverables
  • Marketing and/or branding experience a plus
  • Creative, outside the box thinker excited to optimize existing and develop new revenue streams
Nice to Have
  • Background in e-commerce or merch operations
  • Prior experience in a startup or small-team media environment
  • Familiarity with the Jewish community and/or Jewish media landscape is a strong plus
Engagement Details
  • Structure: Independent Contractor (1099)
  • Compensation: Monthly retainer — rate commensurate with experience
  • Location: Remote and flexible, Los Angeles a plus
  • Start Date: ASAP
Why This Role

This is a rare opportunity to be the business backbone of a culturally significant, rapidly growing media brand. You’ll have real ownership, direct access to leadership, and the chance to shape how the show and organization grows commercially — from advertising strategy to subscriber revenue to merchandise. If you’re entrepreneurial, sales oriented, and detail-obsessed, we’d love to hear from you. You also need to believe in our mission!!
