Head of Marketing

SuperCinemaLos Angeles, CAPosted

Job Description

SuperCinema is a new independent film studio built for the next generation of moviegoers. We develop and produce bold, distinctive, filmmaker-driven original films with a core audience of 18–44-year-old cinephiles and culturally engaged moviegoers.

We’re seeking a Head of Marketing to help define how SuperCinema and its films show up in the world.

This is not a traditional studio marketing role. We’re looking for someone who is social-first, highly creative, and extremely hands-on; someone who combines a strong understanding of film marketing with the ambition to challenge convention and find new ways for films to break through online and in culture.

A major part of the role is building SuperCinema itself into a social brand and destination for cinephiles, with an identity that extends beyond the films we release. Think Letterboxd, Criterion and A24 audiences: people interested in auteur cinema, filmmaking, the theatrical experience, physical media, and film culture more broadly.

The right person understands independent film marketing but also thinks beyond traditional trailers, posters, press, and paid media. You should understand organic social, viral stunts, creators, meme culture, grassroots community building, and strategic partnerships—and know how those pieces can work together to build an audience from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

  • Build SuperCinema into a standalone social and cultural destination for cinephiles, growing an engaged audience through original content around cinema and filmmaking.
  • Lead marketing strategy for SuperCinema and its film slate, from early audience building through release.
  • Develop social-first campaigns across short-form video, creators, influencers, meme and culture pages, partnerships, earned media, and paid social—designed to generate attention, fandom, and ultimately ticket sales/viewership.
  • Run social aggressively and hands-on: identifying opportunities, developing concepts, testing content, reading analytics, iterating quickly, and knowing when to push something that’s working.
  • Work directly with filmmakers and creatives to turn characters, scenes, talent, behind-the-scenes material, and the worlds surrounding our films into compelling social content.
  • Identify unconventional ways to launch and market independent films without relying solely on the traditional studio playbook.
  • Build and manage outside partners, creators, agencies, freelancers, and media relationships while helping establish the marketing infrastructure of a growing independent studio.

Who We’re Looking For

You may come from an independent film distributor, entertainment company, social agency, creator-led brand, digital publisher, or somewhere less obvious. We care more about what you’ve actually made happen than where you’ve worked.

  • A demonstrated track record of growing audiences and creating content or campaigns that people watch, share, discuss, and engage with organically.
  • A strong understanding of independent film, entertainment, and contemporary cinema culture.
  • Deep fluency in Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Letterboxd, Reddit, and the broader social ecosystem.
  • Experience combining organic social with creators, partnerships, PR, paid amplification, and grassroots/community marketing.
  • Strong creative taste, an analytical understanding of performance, and the ability to move quickly and experiment constantly.
  • A genuine excitement about helping build something from the beginning.

This is a senior role, but not a sit-back-and-manage role. We want someone who can set the strategy in the morning and be in the weeds executing it that afternoon.

We’re building SuperCinema to rethink how independent movies are developed, made, marketed, and brought to audiences. We’re looking for someone who wants to help build that alongside us.
