POSITION SUMMARY:
The Country Music Association (CMA) is seeking an Insights Analyst to help translate data into meaningful direction for the Country Music industry. Reporting to the Director of Insights, this role plays an important part in shaping how CMA, and the Country Music industry at large, understands audiences, trends, and opportunities for growth.
As a core member of CMA’s industry-facing Insights team, you’ll dig into diverse datasets, respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders, and uncover stories within the data, translating complex findings into compelling insights that inform industry understanding and decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who is naturally curious, analytically rigorous, and energized by turning complex data into clear, compelling insight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with the Insights team and other stakeholders in the execution, production, and delivery of CMA’s qualitative and quantitative research initiatives
- Contributes to day-to-day activities including project trackers, survey design, programming, survey testing, data tabulation and coding, analysis, and reporting
- Uses standard research tools including Excel, SPSS, Qualtrics, Tableau and similar platforms for primary research
- Communicates data-driven insights with stakeholders inside and outside of the organization
- Produces - both independently and as part of a team - visually compelling reports in PowerPoint and Canva, converting data into a meaningful narrative for a wide range of stakeholders
- Increases CMA’s knowledge of the competitive music environment, market opportunities, and industry trends
- Develops, manages, and analyzes industry data sets for internal and external use including music consumption, media consumption, TV ratings, and other music and entertainment consumption metrics
- Provides insights around consumer audiences, brands, and product category purchases to support opportunities relevant to the Country Music community
- Contributes meaningfully to conversations about current trends and potential topics for research based on personal awareness of what’s happening in the entertainment and/ or research industry at large
- Serves as a steward of data collection, visualization, and reporting
- Finds the story and the “so what” in complex datasets
- Offers consultative support and training in the appropriate use and interpretation of consumer data tools
- Assists with the organization of historical research projects
- Ensures data integrity by identifying areas for data quality checks and developing clear processes to maintain accuracy, consistency, and reliability across datasets
- Develops and maintains SOP documentation
- Leads or contributes to additional research as needed
- Supports a range of CMA events and teams as needed
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education & Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Market Research, Marketing, Analytics, Data, Statistics, Psychology, Economics, Political Science, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Three or more years of experience in an analytical role within market research, business insights, media, marketing, or advertising
Analytical & Statistical Expertise
- Strong knowledge of statistical analysis, data modeling, and business statistics, including descriptive statistics, regression analysis, MAXDIFF, segmentation, and related methodologies
- Ability to synthesize complex datasets and apply analytical rigor to real-world business and audience questions
Tools & Technical Skills
- High proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas, data tables, and charting
- Experience with SPSS or a comparable statistical analysis platform
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
Data Visualization & Insight Communication
- Ability to interpret and present data in actionable, visually compelling ways using charts, graphs, and creative techniques
- Experience translating data into insights through visualization
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate technical findings for non-technical audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus
Industry & Domain Knowledge
- Understanding of marketing principles and strategies informed by research and analytics
- Experience in music, media, or entertainment is a plus
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALITIES PREFERRED:
Research & Analytical Strength
- Working knowledge of market research methods and technologies
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work with and synthesize large, complex datasets
- Curious about consumer behaviors and their impact on media, entertainment, brands, and marketing
- Passionate about uncovering stories through data and analysis
- Familiarity with syndicated data sources, including:
- Consumer syndicated data sources (e.g., YouGov)
- Music/entertainment syndicated data platforms (e.g., Nielsen, Luminate, Chartmetric)
Data Visualization & Storytelling
- Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms is a plus
- Working knowledge of Canva helpful

Work Environment
- Functional, reliable home office required for days working remotely (minimum three days per week in office)
