This position manages the ABC NewsOne newsroom on various shifts, including weekends and nights. This includes directing NewsOne coverage of news stories, directing the work of the newsroom staff, making story assignments, working with other areas of ABC News and ABC affiliates to gather and distribute news content, managing customer service issues, troubleshooting operational issues, editing correspondent scripts, managing the editorial content and production of news packages and other content, producing live shots, providing customer service to international and domestic clients.
What You Will Do
Lead and manage the NewsOne newsroom across assigned shifts, including nights and weekends.
Direct editorial coverage and guide newsroom staff on breaking and planned news.
Assign stories and resources to ensure balanced, timely, and accurate coverage.
Collaborate with ABC News teams and affiliate partners to gather, produce, and distribute content.
Oversee editorial quality by reviewing and editing correspondent scripts
Manages the editorial content and production of news packages and other content
Produces live shots
Provides customer service to international and domestic clients
Required Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a television newsroom or production environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple stories and priorities simultaneously.
Proven ability to lead teams collaboratively and communicate clearly.
Ability to remain composed and decisive in high-pressure, deadline-driven situations.
Demonstrated passion for news and current events.
Willingness and ability to work on-site.
Preferred Qualifications
5 years in a managerial position in a TV newsroom/production environment
Affiliate and/or assignment desk experience
Field producing experience
Video editing experience
Required Education:
High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
The hiring range for this position in New York is $121,000 to $162,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
