UGFTV, Assistant Professor, Writing/Directing for Television

NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, Undergraduate Division is searching for a full-time Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Writing and Directing for Television to begin in September 2024.

Duties include teaching 5 courses per year, mentoring undergraduate students, and participating in departmental and/or school-wide committees and events. Ongoing professional work is encouraged and expected.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Salary, to be negotiated, includes an excellent benefits package.

Candidates should have a proven, significant and ongoing career as a television writer and/or director in scripted comedy and/or drama. Evidence of teaching experience at the university level is preferred, as well as demonstrated experience in a creative/collaborative environment. Candidates may be asked to submit a creative reel of professionally produced work and/or produced writing samples.
