The R&D team drives innovation and introduces new concepts or technologies into the production and post-technology domain. Through research, experimentation and prototyping, the R&D Engineering team identifies new technologies and ideas, and develops them into viable products and workflows. This team also seeks to improve existing production technology workflows and offerings, making them more efficient, cost-effective, and accessible to users. Our insights and proposals help shape the strategic direction of how the overall P&PT team can infuse/approach new technologies into the production lifecycle.

This team will design, develop, deploy and support tailored solutions that enhance the agility, scalability, and efficiency of production workflows. The team will thoroughly document and refine these solutions to optimize performance through automation, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and enhancing reliability, thus guaranteeing scalable deployment of workflows.
The R&D team also oversees the Studio126 Innovation Lab which is a center for interdependent collaboration, where technology and stories converge to invent, study, and iterate in order to accelerate the integration of new technologies that bring ease to the story telling process.

A. Agentic-Driven Media Infrastructure

* Identify opportunities for agentic AI automation across cloud, set, and studio workflows, especially between the UK and LA.
* Build media ontology into agentic solutions supporting Open standards like OTIO, Open Asset IO, and Color IO. I’m on the MovieLabs Industry Forum.
* Pilot AI-based infrastructure solutions through Amazon studio productions to standardize and integrate into Agentic / AWS-powered studio packages.

B. Talent Adoption & Infrastructure Optimization

* Engage with production teams to identify shared challenges that can be addressed through AI and existing infrastructure.
* Conduct an operational cost audit paired with amortized investment threshold to establish optimized rental models for studio assets.
* Build a technical executive team to pair with development executives supporting productions to maximize innovation and AWS infrastructure utilization.

C. Generative AI Innovation & Partnerships

* Leverage studio branding to access and test leading generative AI models (e.g., Kline, Blackforest, Odyssey) via EC2, Bedrock, or H100 Nvidia nodes.
* Develop automatic Lora models from S3 or local content for applications in VFX, editorial, and on-set virtual production.
* Explore NeRF (Neural Radiance Fields) for world-building and virtual production asset generation to power virtual stage at culver for easy pickups built from principal photography OCF.

D. Strengthening Technology Partnerships

* Collaborate with AWS-powered partners (Foundry, Adobe, Avid, Resolve) to enhance media workflows through AI-driven automation.
* Develop and showcase two major technical partnership projects at HPA or other industry summits, positioning Amazon Studios as a leader in media technology innovation.

E. Building a Creative AI Community

* Establish Amazon Studios as a hub for LA’s growing Gen AI community by hosting meetups and providing access to studio infrastructure. Building pool for AI talent acquisition.
* Strategically tie AI-driven production workflows to high-profile projects, such as the 007 franchise, to build excitement and attract top-tier creative talent. Build technology press releases surround a secret ai workflow that is in development to help drive division budget allocation and creative talent attracting.

Amazon MGM Studios is seeking an experienced Manager of Solutions Architecture to lead our Emerging Technology team within the Studios Technology group. In this role, you will be responsible for driving innovation and introducing new concepts or technologies into our production and post-production workflows. * Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
* 10+ years of relevant industry experience, in the media/entertainment sector
* Hands-on experience with emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, virtual production, etc.
* Existing relationships and credibility within the broader media technology community
* Track record of successfully launching innovative technology solutions at scale
* Ability to interface with both technical and creative stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

- 10+ years of enterprise IT application work that includes at least 2 years of hands-on software development or DevOps engineering experience
- 2+ years of architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI, etc. experience
- 8+ years of technology solutions development and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience leading and growing teams of senior technology professionals, ideally in customer facing roles

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $152,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $262,800/year in our highest geographic market.
