Role: Podcast Editor

Anticipated start date: Sept. 5, 2023  (applications considered on a rolling basis)

Location: Remote

Pay: $150 per episode


Role description:


Edit episodes of the podcast Shakespeare’s Shadows. Each episode consists of content from 2 to 3 interviews, along with narration and transitional material spoken by the podcast’s host.


Editor will use a script provided by the podcast host. This role involves conducting the actual sound editing of raw recordings of the podcast by editing and mixing audio (including interview content and music), splicing clips, processing enhancements and noise reduction, and diagnosing any technical issues to create seamless, quality episodes.


The role will begin with editing 5 to 10 episodes to be banked for a November 2023 relaunch. Pace of work will then be approximately 1 episode every 2 weeks. Each episode is between 40 and 60 minutes long.


Required qualifications:


  • At least 1 year’s study completed toward a bachelor’s degree in film/media/audio production OR a least 1 year of experience editing audio for radio, podcast, or student-run media
  • Familiarity in the use of audio editing software such as but not limited to ProTools, Adobe Audition, Logic Pro, Audacity, GarageBand, Descript, or Reaper
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills


Desired qualifications:


  • Experience editing podcasts
  • Interest in Shakespeare and/or the crafts of acting and theater-making
