We're seeking a Senior Sales Planner to help lead and elevate the execution of media plans across our Sales Planning Department. This individual will be a critical pre-sales strategist and planning lead, supporting internal sellers and cross-functional teams with high-quality proposals rooted in audience targeting, pricing efficiency, and digital-first thinking.

As an experienced planner with a deep understanding of omnichannel inventory and DSP platforms, you'll collaborate on proposal development, lead onboarding for new hires, and act as a team mentor and escalation point for planners. You'll also play a key role in liaising with Data, Salesforce, Product, and Ad Operations to improve planning processes and maintain alignment with evolving tools and targeting strategies.

Responsibilities:
Media Planning & Strategy
  • Own the end-to-end planning process for high-value opportunities, ensuring proposals meet client KPIs and maximize revenue across CTV/OTT, OLV, Display, Audio, Native, and emerging formats
  • Translate complex RFP requirements into strategic, audience-led media plans using DSP-level targeting (geo, behavioral, demo, interest-based, etc.)
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Planning Manager and Sales Solutions to ensure accurate pricing, delivery forecasting, and targeting logic, especially in performance-driven deals
Team Leadership & Training
  • Mentor planners, lead onboarding for new team members, and develop robust training documentation on tools, workflows, and planning best practices
  • Act as the go-to escalation point for planner issues or questions, supporting regional groupings as assigned (e.g., Southern region)
Process Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a primary liaison between Planning and the Data Solutions teams, supporting data logic updates, troubleshooting audience issues, and coordinating rollouts of new audience segments or modeling tools
  • Collaborating with the Salesforce/Planning Systems teams on system enhancements and workflow improvements
  • Lead or support special projects focused on streamlining planning, data validation, or cross-departmental initiatives
  • Step in as lead for key departmental meetings when the Sales Planning Manager is unavailable

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Media, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in digital media planning, pre-sales strategy, DSP campaign planning, or account management
  • Strong understanding of DSP environments, particularly audience strategy, bidding logic, data usage, and omnichannel buying
  • Demonstrated expertise in CTV/OTT media, audience targeting, and digital-first RFP strategy
  • Experience with Salesforce, Excel, PowerPoint, and media proposal tools
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Prior leadership or mentorship experience is strongly preferred

Benefits:

Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, ALL employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor's appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
