Unwell is seeking a strategic and highly experienced Business Affairs executive to lead all contract negotiations and legal across the company’s core business verticals. This person will play a strategic advisory role across all business lines of the company and will be the go-to expert for navigating complex agreements in podcasting, live events, talent partnerships, and film/TV development.


Key Responsibilities


  • Contract Management: Oversee end-to-end negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts across podcasts, live events, talent agreements, and film/TV options.

  • Deal Strategy: Collaborate with executive leadership to structure innovative and scalable deals that support Unwell’s growth.

  • Talent Relations: Serve as a key liaison with agents, managers, and legal representatives to secure top-tier talent and maintain strong industry relationships.

  • HR support: Draft and review contracts including employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, separation agreements and vendor agreements.

  • Rights & IP: Ensure proper acquisition and protection of intellectual property rights across all content formats.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with creative, production, marketing, and finance teams to align business affairs with operational needs.

  • Compliance & Risk: Monitor legal compliance and mitigate risk across all business activities, including licensing, distribution, and sponsorships.

  • External Counsel: Manage relationships with outside legal counsel as needed for specialized matters.



Qualifications


  • 8+ years of experience in business affairs or entertainment law, preferably within podcasting, digital media, or talent-driven content.

  • Deep understanding of entertainment contracts, including talent agreements, option/purchase deals, and live event licensing.

  • Proven track record of closing high-value deals and managing complex negotiations.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with creatives and executives alike.

  • JD degree and active bar membership preferred but not required.
