DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The Product team at GBH manages a portfolio of audience-facing digital products for our national production units, children’s productions, local radio and news, membership, and other foundation departments. At any given time, our team of designers, product managers, and project managers can design and build interactive games for kids, websites for popular PBS shows, audio and video players, newsletters, and much more.
JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a YouTube Product Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Digital Products, the YouTube Product Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of GBH’s VOD and live stream content distribution across 20+ channels. They will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop operational practices and identify opportunities for collaboration. They will not prepare or publish videos.
To succeed in this role, a candidate must demonstrate an understanding of digital video distribution, rights management, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to clear and open communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee a portfolio of 20+ YouTube channels that feature VOD kids, news, and documentary content. Work closely with the audience development teams who publish videos and support live streaming efforts as needed.

Act as the in-house expert on the YouTube Content Manager and be able to confidently manage activities within it.

Partner with leaders across GBH’s Business, Legal, Production, Sponsorship, and IT departments to identify opportunities supporting our business and audience engagement goals on YouTube and other video platforms.

Support asset governance, including tracking inventory of published videos, rights expirations, and active YT policies. Ensure organizational compliance with GBH security policies.

Support YouTube administration, including permissioning, security, and access of our channel producers and administrators.

Understand and regularly communicate YouTube workflow, asset, ownership, and SEO best practices. Work with PBS and other public media partners to define and scale these best practices.

Work with data analysts to understand user metrics and clearly communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders. Help units parse data and use it to inform their content choices and success measures.

Stay abreast of YouTube product updates and MVOD/AVOD trends across media.

Strong analytical skills; ability to use data and metrics to drive actions, back up assumptions, and make recommendations.

Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required. 3+ years of YouTube experience required. Media industry experience preferred.
