Post Production Technical Assistant

New York Film Academy, New York Campus

The Post Production Technical Assistants primary responsibility is to facilitate the overall student experience at NYFA. This primarily involves helping students with editing and computer questions they have while working, including technical and creative input, as well as providing assistance to instructors during class and in preparation for class. This position requires high student interaction, so the individual in this position would require a background in customer relations with exemplary communication skills.

Position Responsibilities

• Assist students with technical and creative editing questions

• Pick up, deliver, ingest, transcode and log digital & film media to/from the Equipment Department and external vendors

• Complete student footage requests

• Digitize/Prepare footage for student editing sessions

• Assist instructors during class

• Provide footage to instructors in the format requested (hard drive, DVD)

• Edit NYFA projects as assigned

• Assist with NYFA student screenings

• Clean office, classrooms and computers

• Perform all tasks assigned by the Post Production Supervisor

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience. 2-3 years related experience preferred

• Knowledge of Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro required

• Experience in the following programs:

  • Avid Media Composer

  • Adobe Premiere

  • Final Cut Studio 7

  • Mac OS X

  • Microsoft Office

  • Filemaker Pro
