Photographer I, News

The News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports.

Shoots video for news reports
Confers with news, weather, & sports staff to discuss assignments, logistics and shot requirements
Sets up, composes and executes video shots
Maintains video equipment
Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content
Operates live microwave truck and TVU Backpack gear for remote situations
Conducts interviews with dignitaries, business managers, elected officials, as well as regular citizens, and homeless people
Listens to scanners for breaking news events
Responds quickly and shoots video in intense situations
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

High school diploma
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to ask questions in a professional manner
Minimum one year experience operating video recording equipment
Proficiency with all electronics
Proficiency with video editing software – Adobe Premier
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Flexibility to work any shift
