THE ROLE:
EBONY Studios is seeking a passionate, creative, and detail-driven Videographer to join our Labs division—our creative agency and content studio. This role will work across editorial, branded, social and experiential projects, responsible for capturing compelling footage and delivering high-quality visuals that align with EBONY’s creative vision. From cover shoots and campaigns to live events and social content, you will be a key visual storyteller helping to shape the narrative of Black excellence, creativity, and innovation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Film and capture high-quality video content across various formats including interviews, b-roll, behind-the-scenes, promotional content, and event coverage
- Operate and maintain a variety of video equipment including cameras, lighting, and audio gear
- Collaborate closely with the creative team, producers, and editors to execute visual concepts and ensure a cohesive look and feel
- Support both studio and location shoots, ensuring lighting, framing, and technical setups meet production standards
- Capture engaging content optimized for social media platforms including vertical and short-form formats
- Assist in creative planning, shot listing, and scouting for upcoming shoots
- Organize, manage, and transfer footage to post-production in an efficient and secure manner
- Stay current on video trends, camera technologies, and production techniques to bring fresh, innovative ideas to projects
- Contribute creatively to shoot concepts and visual treatments, offering suggestions that elevate the story visually
- Establish and maintain video templates (e.g., branded intro/outro slates, lower-thirds, transitions) to ensure visual consistency across platforms
- Build and manage a reliable network of freelance videographers, camera operators, editors, and production crew to scale production needs
- Maintain and organize EBONY Studios’ video asset library in accordance with company file-sharing, file-naming, and archival policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3–5 years of experience as a videographer or cinematographer in a media, studio, or agency setting
- Experience working with celebrity talent or high-profile brands
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of visual storytelling styles across branded content, editorial, and event coverage
- Proficiency with professional cameras (Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, etc.) and audio/video accessories
- Working knowledge of lighting setups and best practices for both natural and controlled environments
- Experience filming in fast-paced, dynamic shoot environments (e.g., events, live activations, behind-the-scenes)
- Strong sense of composition, timing, movement, and storytelling
- Comfortable taking creative direction while contributing ideas and solutions
- Basic knowledge of video editing software (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut) is a plus
- Passion for culture, creativity, and the mission of celebrating and elevating Black stories
