Morning News Executive Producer

Description:

KITV Island News is looking for a decisive, collaborative, and creative newsroom leader to manage and elevate our morning news operation. This position requires a strong editorial voice, high journalistic standards, and the ability to innovate and execute under pressure. The Morning Executive Producer will also be responsible for line producing as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the editorial vision and production of all morning newscasts across multiple platforms
• Collaborate with newsroom leadership to set strategic content direction and long-term coverage plans
• Mentor, coach, and develop producers and newsroom staff with regular feedback and training
• Oversee daily editorial process, including story selection, rundowns, script reviews, and copy editing
• Make sound editorial decisions in breaking news situations
• Ensure all content aligns with station branding, community needs, journalistic integrity, and FCC guidelines

Requirements & Skills:

• At least 3 years of experience in television news, with a strong background in producing and newsroom leadership
• Demonstrated success in managing teams, leading editorial decisions, and executing content strategy
• Passion for local news, community impact, and public service journalism
• Ability to calmly lead in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, especially during live coverage
• Working knowledge of ENPS, Edius, content management systems, and multiplatform publishing is a plus
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• A positive, solutions-focused attitude and commitment to a collaborative newsroom culture

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
