About the Role:

A high-net-worth aspiring independent film producer is seeking a highly skilled General Counsel & Business Manager for both personal and business matters. This is a unique, high-responsibility position designed to relieve the producer of administrative, legal, and operational burdens so he can focus fully on the creative aspects of film production and other personal and business ventures.

This is not conventional legal work—it blends law, business management, business development, accounting, and personal executive support. Requirements for the position include a license to practice law in Nevada, a strong background in business and contract law, and the ability to operate with utmost discretion, reliability, and initiative.

This role involves a combination of remote work and on-location responsibilities. While in the foreseeable future the majority of tasks are expected to be performed remotely, there will be occasions when in-person presence may be necessary, including during film shoots and certain meetings or assignments. Candidates must be willing and able to travel for extended periods when required. Over time, the balance between remote and in-person work may shift based on the evolving needs of the producer and ongoing business ventures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as General Counsel for all personal and business legal matters
  • Serve as Business Manager for current and potential future ventures
  • Oversee compliance with federal/state/local laws and regulations, communicate with agencies as needed, and complete necessary filings
  • Oversee compliance with union regulations, communicate with unions as needed, and complete necessary filings
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts for personal and business matters
  • Run point on all matters requiring specialized legal expertise, including liaising with outside counsel as needed
  • Perform personal and business bookkeeping, accounting, and vendor payments
  • Scrutinize cost reports
  • Coordinate closely with CPA for personal and business tax filings
  • Oversee payroll and ensure compliance with employment law
  • Conduct deep research across legal and non-legal topics
  • Oversee and optimize corporate structure and business entities
  • Maintain and organize confidential documents and ensure secure file storage
  • Anticipate and fulfill the producer’s operational needs
  • Assist producer with operational needs during film shoots
  • Conduct business development activities, including identifying, contacting, and vetting potential vendors, partners, and creative collaborators
  • Procure required insurance coverage and ensure that it is obtained and maintained
  • Research and apply for film tax incentives, film festivals, and awards consideration
  • Stay current with legal and regulatory developments relevant to the producer’s personal and business matters
  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the producer, including potential new business ventures or shifts in personal or professional direction

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of Nevada
  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law
  • Strong understanding of contract law, corporate law, legal compliance, company formation, and multi-entity structures
  • Able to travel to remote locations for extended periods (potentially months) and have flexible hours as needed
  • Discreet, organized, and proactive—able to work independently and anticipate needs
  • Adaptable and comfortable with evolving responsibilities
  • Strong research, document drafting, and analytical abilities
  • Ability to manage sensitive personal and business information and complex workflows
  • Tech-savvy
  • Eager to learn new areas of law

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $175,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
