The Following Films is an ambitious indie production company building toward franchise-scale IP. Our first feature, The Following (shooting December 2025), and our second, Only Love (a raw, intimate story exploring homelessness), are laying the foundation for a studio that balances intimate storytelling with long-term franchise ambitions.

We are looking for a hands-on Indie Productions and Festival Strategy Lead to help manage the business side of our indie productions, marketing, and festival strategy while creating systems that scale as our company grows.

-The Role-

This is a foundational hire, starting full-time in January 2026. We’re also open to early involvement in Fall 2025 for candidates interested in contributing to festival strategy, production planning, marketing, and operational setup. You will report directly to the founder and collaborate closely with the Studio-Scale Finance & IP Executive and future hires.

-Responsibilities-

Production Operations: Manage logistics for indie productions, including equipment rentals, locations, permits, and crew coordination.

Festival & Release Strategy: Plan and execute festival submissions, marketing campaigns, and distribution timelines for indie features.

Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate on marketing strategies for films and company brands; help grow audiences pre- and post-release.

Contract Support: Draft, review, and manage basic production agreements and talent contracts.

Budget & Resource Management: Track and optimize production budgets, inventory, and resource allocation for multiple projects.

Scaling Systems: Design operational workflows and processes that allow the company to transition smoothly into larger-scale productions.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with the founder and other early hires to coordinate operations, scheduling, and cross-functional priorities.

-What We’re Looking For-

Indie Production Experience: 5+ years managing operations, production logistics, or festival strategy on independent films or microbudget projects.

Organized & Resourceful: Able to manage multiple moving parts with limited resources while keeping projects on track.

Marketing & Audience Awareness: Understanding of indie film marketing, social media, and audience-building strategies.

Contract & Budget Familiarity: Comfortable with basic agreements, production budgets, and vendor contracts.

Entrepreneurial Spirit: Excited to build systems from scratch and solve problems creatively.

Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills; ability to coordinate between creative, technical, and business teams.

-Compensation & Equity-

Equity: 1–3% in The Following Films, vesting over 4 years (based on experience and fit).

Film Profit Participation: Opportunity for backend participation in Only Love, the first film post-hire.

Start Options: Full-time official start January 2026; early Fall 2025 consulting/part-time contributions possible.

Cash: At this early stage, cash compensation is limited. Full competitive salary will be available as the company scales after Only Love distribution.
